Wages and Job OutlookLocation Average Hourly Wages Average Yearly Wages

Missouri $35.26 $73,340

United States $45.74 $95,150

The Job Outlook for the future of a Business Administrator or Manager is excellent. There is a very large employment rate, because managers and administrators in businesses are always retiring, being promoted, or starting a new business. With this constant flow and every industry in need of someone for the position, there are always jobs available.

Common work areas for the job would be business management companies, state and local government agencies, banks and credit unions, and computer system and design companies.

Advancement Opportunities

General Managers are often promoted to an executive position within their companies. To quickly receive a promotion, company-sponsored training is the best opportunity to advance your knowledge. Attending workshops, meetings, and other programs that teach you the overall policies and operations is a great way to further expand your familiarity of the company which would help you receive a higher position. Management who acquires the latest knowledge in administration and leadership are more likely to succeed.

Job Experience

In my high school career I have had many opportunities to job shadow. Places I have job shadowed include:

• Eugene Field Elementary School Teacher/ Principal• KNIM and KZLX Radio Stations

• Central High School Principal/Teacher

Also my part time job at Pizza Hut is a very helpful job experience. I am currently on staff as a waitress/cook but, I have begun training to be an assistant manager this coming summer of 2013. I will be learning how to schedule, deal with customer problems or emergencies, and be in charge of the restaurant at any given time.

Working as a full time babysitter in the summer is another helpful experience, teaching me important skills for the future.

SkillsWith my job at Pizza Hut and babysitting during the summer I

have acquired some very important skills that are necessary in the business world. The skills I’ve developed include:

• Learning to budget and save my money: Paying for my own gas, clothes, cell phone, and weekend entertainment taught me to put together a small budget form to help me manage my money.

• The customer is always right: Although this statement isn’t always right in literal terms it is important to keep your customers happy so they continue to bring you good business.

• Being Social: Not being nervous or shy when talking to a group of people is always important. You shouldn’t be an overbearing person but a little confidence won’t hurt. You should be able to talk to your employees and customers in a way they can fully understand you.
