Connection hints:The 2 L.H. terminals are bridged. The 2 R.H. terminals are bridged too. Connect the two sensor wires to the inner terminals. The earth wire is always near the blue wire.

System (1)
Detection principleTube sensor loops in the heating elements connected by twisted wire pairs to the detection module form resonant circuits. Metallic pots will influence these circuits. The influence increases with pot size. The electronic detection module evaluates the changes in the circuit, and will give information to the power board to switch on one or more zones, depending on pot size.
8
System (2)
CommunicationThe detection module communicates with the power board and with the user interface via the MACS bus
MACS = Major Appliance Communication System
9
System (3)
System limitations
– Detection deteriorates if pots and pans have uneven or dirty bottoms, due to the increased distance to the sensors.
– Non-metallic pots can‘t be detected, as the sensors react to inductivity changes.
– Even with some metallic materials, it could happen that the selected heating zone is too big or too small, as the characteristics of the materials on the market are very different.
10
System (4)
Calibrationis always recommended after an intervention to the hob, as the system is influenced even by very small changesImportant:
– If a new pot detection module is fitted, there will be an automatic calibration at the first power on
– Always perform a manual calibration if heating elements, sensor wires or electronic boards are replaced
– A calibration instruction is supplied with these spare parts
– Make sure that no pot, nor any other object, is on the hob during calibration
11
Malfunctions - Causes -Remedies (1)
Cooking zone not switched on, although a pot was placed on it
The pot is either too small, or made of non-metallic material. For safety reasons, a minimum pot diameter is required.
To use such pots, de-activate pot detection (pot symbol) and manually select required zones.
12
Malfunctions - Causes -Remedies (2)
The cooking zone switched on is either too big or too small
Pot not placed concentrically on cooking zone.Actual pot bottom is smaller than the outer diameter.Sensitivity to pot material too high or too low.
Place pots concentrically on cooking zone.If this doesn‘t help, or if one of the other causes apply, de-activate pot detection.
13
Malfunctions - Causes -Remedies (3)
Faint rattling noise under glass surface
The sensors are placed in gooves in the heating elements. Small dimensional tolerances can lead to this rattling noise
There is no recommended remedy to this. Changing the heating elements will not help (in an unfavourable case it could make things worse). One possiblity not explicitly recommended by the factory is to slightly bend the sensors upwards (max. 3-5mm) , so that they will touch the glass
14
Malfunctions - Causes -Remedies (4)
Alarm code E3Calibration fault, incomplete calibration.Pot detection not configuredPerform manual calibrationIf fault persists, change pot detection module
Alarm code E8Communication error between electronics. Single occurence might be due to data collision. If fault occurs repeatedly, check wiring and connectors.
15
Malfunctions - Causes -Remedies (5)
Element not heatingPot on cooking zone, Display shows „F“- de-activate pot detection
Element heating Check pot detection Check sensor wires and contacts.Check if sensor loops are not broken.Change pot detection module
Display „u“ – „9“- Check element resistance
is faulty, change elements, calibtrate- if not, change power board, calibrate
16
Malfunctions - Causes -Remedies (6)
Touch sensitivityRear touch keys more difficult to activate- Keep fingers almost vertically when touching keys- check position of the user interface and of ist plastic support
BeppContinuous beep- Normal protection against permanent touch. Remove any object from the touch zone
17
Malfunctions - Causes -Remedies (7)
Display reverts to „0“- if no pot is detected („F“), touching + or – will reset the cooking zoneSet power level only after pot has been placed on cooking zone.
Cooking zone heating after removing pot- if a pot is removed from an active cooking zone, it ca take up to ten seconds until the zone is switched off by the pot detectionNo fault to avoid, switch off zone before removing pot
