Electricity Solutions Limited (ES) is an Independent ConnectionsProvider offering a full turnkey alternative to the host DistributionNetwork Operators (DNOs) for the design and delivery of electricityconnections . We are fully accredited to work in each DNO region withparticular emphasis across the North West, Midlands and the South.

Electricity Solutions was registered at Companies House in 2006 and startedtrading as a project management company in March 2007. Partial accreditationwas secured by the end of the summer allowing ES to provide electricityconnections under Ofgem’s Competition in Connections initiative, recognisingthe poor service levels offered to housing and industrial/commercial developersby the local utilities. We currently have full accreditation up to 11kV and partialaccreditation up to 66kV.

Our Business StructureElectricity Solutions is wholly owned by Kevin and Gill Bergin who both haveextensive knowledge and experience in the electricity distribution industryhaving worked in Scottish Power and other major utility constructioncompanies.

SectorsTo date we have secured contracts throughout the UK with particular emphasison connections for Utility Scale Solar Projects across the South and the Isle ofWight with major solar developers in this sector. We also aim to continue oursuccess in the Industrial Commercial sectors and have recently appointed anew Business Development Manager with over 30 years in the industry todevelop our order book across the Midlands.

Our PeopleWe are a small but rapidly growing business with a personal approach andunrivalled experience levels throughout our business from Director level to SiteStaff who are committed to delivering excellence to our customers.

Multi-UtilityWe are also able to offer gas and water connections as part of a multi-utilityoffering through working with our preferred partners for the Residential andIndustrial/Commercial sectors.

Restoration and RepairsIn addition to our New Connections division we also undertake emergencysupport and fault repairs for IDNO’s in the North West through our dedicatedjointing teams.

The Installation

The National Electricity Registration Scheme(NERS Accredited)

The National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERSAccredited) is managed by Lloyd’s Register on behalf of theUK Distribution Network Operators (DNO’s). It wasintroduced as part of the process of introducingcompetition into the electrical services market.

To gain accreditation Electricity Solutions were subject torigorous competency assessments and are currentlyaccredited to carry out the following works:

CHAS is established as the market leader for health andsafety pre-qualification in the UK, with over 50,000 suppliersand 570 buyer members on it’s database. To maintain theaccreditation Electricity Solutions are subject to an annualassessment.

The SMAS Worksafe Certificate

The SMAS Worksafe Certificate allows us to demonstrate ourHealth and Safety Competence. SMAS use the Construction(Design and Management) Regulations 2007 “core criteria”or the health and safety module in PAS91 as it’s threshold.

Achilles

Achilles has matured into one of the most thorough andrigorous accreditation schemes. Launched in 2007 it isdesigned to meet the increasingly demanding legislativeand risk management needs of construction clients. Usedby 17 buyer organisations and over 1,500 suppliers in theUK Construction sector Electricity Solutions are proud tohave achieved the accreditation at their first attempt(something 25% of subcontractors fail to achieve).

Joined Manweb in 1989 and then moved across to Scottish PowerContracting in 1997. Kevin held numerous engineering positions atAlstom, Areva and latterly was Private Networks Manager at BethallPower before forming Electricity Solutions in March 2007.

Joined Manweb Contracting in 1992 working in the High VoltageDepartment, before going on to work in the Completion departmentof The Mortgage Business within HBOS in 1997. Gill then moved toThe Close Brothers group working in the Asset finance department in2003 before moving to Electricity Solutions in June 2008.
