Thank you for your interest in running for the 2019-2020 NFTY North American Board!

Serving as a NFTY Board member requires an immense amount of time, dedication, flexibility, patience, and commitment – as well as a sense of vision and time-management, alongside teen and adult leaders, to execute your position. It is important that you fully understand the duties and obligations associated with the six North American Board positions and the elections process. Being a part of the NFTY Board is a team effort and partnership, with your fellow board members as well as the professional staff of NFTY. Please read through this packet of information with your parent/guardian, your clergy, and your NFTY Regional Staff member. We require you to speak with the current member of the NFTY Board for the position you seek and one additional current/past board member to discuss the general roles of the North American Board. These conversations must happen between now and January 7th and should include a discussion of your reasons for running and your potential platform. Please note that this initial conversation may result in the board member encouraging an additional conversation with another board member or the board advisor before the deadline. We also strongly encourage you discuss the obligations and daily responsibilities of holding a NFTY North American Board position, which is unlike any other leadership position in NFTY. If you do not reach out to the current North American Board members, you will be disqualified as a candidate. This elections packet includes:

It is required that you, your parent/guardian, your congregational clergy, and your NFTY Regional Director sign these agreements, which will be in effect throughout your term, if elected. Your signature on the contract states that you understand the level of integrity, maturity, and vision expected with the role of being a NFTY Board member and that you are willing to meet these expectations. Roughly one week after the deadline, you will be sent a packet with guidelines for candidates, including more election information regarding speeches, the Meet the Candidates sessions, and the complete list of candidates. General Expectations of NFTY Board Members

“It is not the position that honors the person, but rather the person that honors the position” –Ta’anit 21b

Being elected to NFTY Board is an incredible opportunity that comes with many expectations. If elected, you will have a meaningful influence in the lives of thousands of Reform Jewish teenagers. As a leader in NFTY, you will set a positive example for fellow NFTYites through your involvement, dedication, and conduct. You are also expected to set the example of having a vision for NFTY and seeing it through. You are further expected to start conversations and push them forward in partnership with the NFTY Directors, as well as anticipate next steps and collaborate with your team to elevate NFTY to its highest potential. Not only do you represent the teens of our 19 regions, you also represent over 500 TYGs across North America, including the one from which you began your journey of leadership in NFTY. It is also important to remember that each of the NFTY Board Members is responsible not only for their particular job description, but also must strive to work as a team throughout their term. It is impossible to accomplish anything alone. The following are the general expectations for all NFTY Board Members: Role Model – Recognize that the members of NFTY look to you to set an example. Be aware of your behavior and attitude at all times, even when you are not actively leading. Lead by example, even more so when it comes to pieces outlined in the NFTY Brit Kehillah. Approachability – NFTY Board Members need to be approachable at all times. NFTYites should know how to reach you throughout the year with questions or concerns (especially if you will be in college). Approachability also goes both ways – we want NFTYites to feel comfortable reaching you AND you should be comfortable reaching out to and engaging with NFTYites around North America both at events and through other communication. NFTY’s 13 Principles – As a leader for the entire Reform Jewish Youth Movement, we must set an example by upholding the values NFTY stands for in our 13 Principles (which can be found on our website). It is your job to educate our participants and encourage the representation of these principles in our programming. Partnership – One of NFTY’s 13 Principles is the value of Partnership – both with your adult counterparts on the URJ professional staff and your regional counterparts. You are expected to be in frequent contact with both. This is a weekly – and often daily – expectation. We ask you to keep in touch by phone and email, as well as through using NFTY official social media accounts, writing blog posts, and participating in meetings and representing the youth voice of the Reform Movement in general. Initiative – It is essential as a NFTY Board Member to know when and how to take initiative in their work. As the top teen leadership of the Movement, you must hold yourself accountable for ensuring that not only your work gets done, but all work that you oversee is also finished. If a project is not moving forward (whether you are working with teens or adults), you have the ability to communicate with your team and figure out what is holding you back. Attendance – As a role model, you are expected to attend all designated NFTY events and URJ related meetings (when applicable). School will always be your first priority, and you should know up front about the travel and meeting requirements. By running for North American Board, you are making a commitment that NFTY will be your primary extracurricular activity throughout the year. If there are any North American events that you cannot attend in their entirety, it must be stated in your speech. (Note: Attending Kutz for the full summer session is non-negotiable.)

NFTY Board Members will each have the opportunity to visit NFTY Regions during regional events over the course of the year, depending upon availability of resources. They will not be allowed to visit their home region for official or unofficial NFTY business. Please note that one of these travel requirements will likely happen before the end of November 2019. The North American Board will meet weekly throughout the school year, via Zoom. It is expected that you attend these meetings, unless otherwise noted in advance of that meeting.

Time Commitment – Once you are elected, it is vital that you continue completing the obligations you have to your region, for the program year. Your official work on the NFTY Board will begin in the summer of 2019. The transition to begin learning about your upcoming position will begin at Mifgash Hafifah in the spring, when the current board and board elect come together at the URJ Kutz Camp. The success of each NFTY board is not only accomplished by the work you do in your position, but by how you bridge your position best between your predecessor, yourself, and your successor. Even though there may be pressure, once elected, to be the new face of NFTY, there are still North American Board members in place who will be finishing out there year. It is vital to let them continue to lead, while learning what you can from them. You may be asked to be on some preliminary meetings, but the majority of your work will not begin until the summer. Dependability - There are many instances when you will be working in small groups or as a larger board and it is imperative that you are dependable and accountable to each of your partners, in this work. When you are unable to complete a task, or uphold your end of the work, you must be accountable to tell others so that they are not left without an explanation as to the status of your work together. Everyone’s work is connected and understanding your part in that work requires you to commit to being dependable for others.

Expenses – If elected, your approved NFTY related expenses will be covered by NFTY. At times, you will need to use your own money initially to cover pre-approved expenses like the cost of getting to and from the airport when traveling for NFTY. You will be provided with forms to fill out so that you can be reimbursed. In order to expedite flight book and cost reimbursement, we will provide you training on our process for booking flights through Egencia and submitting expenses through Concur (two separate systems we use for these processes)

NFTY North American Board Election Procedures

Campaigning

● As per the NFTY Constitution, campaigning is not allowed prior to or during NFTY Convention 2019 Asefah, where elections will occur. Any candidate that participates in campaigning will be disqualified.

Getting to Know the Candidates

● Each candidate will have a letter of intent, speech, short biography (75 words or less), and photo, which will be posted on the NFTY website (nfty.org) prior to the election.

● NFTY General Board members will have the opportunity to learn more about candidates during a “Meet the Candidates” forum during NFTY Convention 2019. The design of this forum will be available to candidates two weeks prior to elections.

● Each candidate can create a position paper to be distributed during the “Meet the Candidates” session during NFTY Convention 2019. Position papers should be no longer than one page, single-sided for all candidates.

Letters of Intent

● Each candidate will write a letter stating their intent to run for NFTY Board.

● Letters of Intent for candidates for President should be no longer than two sides of one page. Letters of Intent should be no longer than one side of one page for those running for PVP, SAVP, RCVP, MVP, and CVP.

● All letters should have one-inch margins on each side and be written in size 11 Arial font.

● A candidate’s Letter of Intent should include a basic summary of what they intend to do in the upcoming year, why it is important to NFTY, and any other relevant information. In essence, they are submitting a condensed version of their platform.

● The Letters of Intent will be posted online for NFTYites to view after they are received by the North American office, so if there is any information you would like kept confidential until your speech, do not include it in your letter. Since your Letter of Intent will become public domain, please do not use any personal information such as personal e-mails, twitter handles, screen names, or phone numbers.

Speeches

● All speeches will be delivered online. Candidates will receive technical information on

submitting a video speech within one week of the candidate declaration deadline. Speeches must be submitted by January 25th. Candidates may start working on the content of their speech at any time.

● Candidates for any Vice President position will be allowed a speech no longer than four minutes in length. Candidates for President will be allowed a speech no longer than five minutes in length.

● Once all of the speeches have been received and optimized for posting, they will be posted online for general viewing. Speeches will not be given live at NFTY Convention 2019 Asefah.

Elections

● Elections will proceed in gavel order during Asefah on Sunday, February 17, 2019.

● Delegates will mark their votes on an official ballot, fold it, and hand it into the NFTY staff member assigned to collecting the ballots. Each ballot will list the name of the position, the name of the candidates in alphabetical order, an option for abstention, and an option for no-vote. To the left of each candidate, the abstention, and no-vote options should be a blank line. This line is where voting delegates will indicate their preference by numbering the options 1 through X, where X represents the number of candidates plus the abstention and no-vote options. The 1 will represent the candidate the voting delegate is voting for, 2 will represent their second choice, and so on, through X representing their X choice. The NFTY Constitution requires a simple majority to elect. (Please familiarize yourself with election procedures outlined in the NFTY Constitution and the outcomes of each option.)

● Ballots will be counted by the current NFTY President and the Director(s) of NFTY. ● The candidates will be informed of the outcome of the election by the current NFTY

President in the “holding tank” before it is announced to the NFTY General Board and to the greater NFTY Convention. However, it will be after the Asefah has officially ended at NFTY Convention, and before the announcement at that evening’s Convention Plenary.

NFTY BOARD ELECTION GUIDELINES

Each of the following guidelines is subject to the discretion of the NFTY Board. We offer these guidelines to provide candidates with a clear understanding of what is and is not permissible. If you have a question about the appropriateness of any of your actions or materials – i.e., a potentially “gray area” – consult the NFTY President or NFTY Directors without delay.

What a Candidate Cannot Do (At Risk of Disqualification)

● Distribute material to any NFTYite that discusses the voting procedure in attempt to

sway/affect that person's vote. (Thus, material may educate about the candidate’s platform, but may not say, for example, “vote for me,” “I am the best candidate”).

● Distribute or share inappropriate or negative material about any candidates. ● Contact – including by means of telephone, e-mail, text messaging, or other social

media, etc. – delegates or other NFTYites (including other candidates) to initiate conversation about the election and its process.

● Visit regions other than the candidate's home region between the time that letters of intent are due and the time of elections.

● Distribute material outside of the event during which elections are held (e.g., e-mail delegates, post material pertaining to the election on blogs, social networking sites, snail mail material, etc.).

● Distribute material that is not paper-based/written. Platform papers are allowed, but pins and other promotional material are not. The material is meant to educate, not advertise. The ONLY permissible material to be handed out is the platform paper, which may be distributed during Meet the Candidates.

● Use network email threads or Facebook groups as a forum for campaigning in any way. ● Contact delegates from other regions in an effort to bloc vote. You represent the

constituents of your region. At NFTY Convention 2019 Asefah, all Asefah participants (including candidates are involved with their regional caucus. Your votes should be reflective of what your region wants.

NFTY CONSTITUTIONAL INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THE ELECTION ARTICLE TEN: ELECTIONS, APPOINTMENTS, RESIGNATIONS, AND DISMISSALS SECTION A. ELECTIONS. The following members of the NFTY North American Board shall be elected annually in this order:

a. President b. Programming Vice President c. Social Action Vice President d. Religious and Cultural Vice President e. Membership Vice President f. Communications Vice President

Paragraph 1: During the NFTY General Board Meeting at NFTY Convention, election of the NFTY North American Board members shall take place. The NFTY North American Board members shall be installed during NFTY Mechina the following July.

Paragraph 2: The election of the NFTY North American Board shall be the last item of new business of the NFTY General Board Meeting at NFTY Convention.

Paragraph 3: Election procedures shall include the following:

1. Letters of Intent shall be sent to the NFTY Office no later than one month prior to the NFTY General Board Meeting.

2. Candidates may change the office for which they are running by submitting a new Letter of Intent before the deadline has passed. No individual may be nominated or change his/her position during election procedures.

3. There will be a time set aside at the NFTY Convention for a Meet-the-Candidates question and answer period.

4. One speech will be given by each candidate. Presidential candidate speeches will be a maximum of five minutes in length. All additional candidate speeches will be a maximum of four minutes in length.

5. Voting a. Each regional federation will receive up to four votes, based on the number of voting

delegates present, and if the regional federation has met the dues criteria. b. Each of the NFTY Board officers will have one vote, with the exception of the NFTY

President, who only votes in the event of a tie. c. Each ballot will list the name of the position, the name of the candidates in

alphabetical order, an option for abstention, and an option for no-vote. To the left of each candidate, the abstention, and no-vote options should be a blank line. This line is where voting delegates will indicate their preference by numbering the options 1 through X, where X represents the number of candidates plus the abstention and no-vote options. The 1 will represent the candidate the voting delegate is voting for, 2 will represent their second choice, and so on, through X representing their X choice.

d. Votes will be tallied by the current NFTY President and NFTY Director(s). e. If no one candidate receives a simple majority (50 percent plus 1) of the number one

votes, then an instant runoff shall occur. The candidate with the fewest amount of number one votes will be eliminated and the votes received by the eliminated candidate will then be distributed based on second choice as marked on the ballot. If no preference is given, the ballot is counted as an abstention. If a candidate has a majority, then they shall be elected. If there is still no majority the process of instant runoff repeats until a single candidate has a simple majority of the votes cast.

f. Once an abstention or no-vote has been indicated, no other candidate shall be listed below it. When counting, if the choice indicated on the ballot represents an abstention or no-vote, the ballot will be taken out of the running and the number of votes needed to reach a simple majority will be adjusted accordingly. The abstention is taken out of the vote totals and that ballot remains separated throughout any subsequent run-offs. A no vote would be counted in that round, but then the ballot would be taken out for any subsequent run-offs.

g. Candidates for each position will be notified of the final outcome before the NFTY President shares the information with the NFTY General Board.

h. Should the no-vote option carry a majority vote, then the NFTY North American Board and the NFTY North American Board-elect shall appoint a member of NFTY to the position within the upcoming month.

Paragraph 4: All NFTY North American Board members must meet the following requirements:

1. A NFTY North American Board member must not hold a regional office during their term of office.

2. A NFTY North American Board member, at the time of election, must be a member of a NFTY Regional Federation.

3. The NFTY North American Board member, at the time of election, must be a Junior or Senior in High School.

Paragraph 5: The NFTY North American President shall have all powers it deems necessary and proper for the administration of the election process.

Paragraph 6: There will be no campaigning at the NFTY General Board Meeting. However, position papers will be allowed. Final discretion is up to the NFTY Executive.

SECTION B. If a member of the NFTY North American Board resigns or is dismissed, the President shall appoint an interim replacement.

Paragraph 1: The remaining NFTY North American Board members, under the direction of the highest-ranking member of the NFTY North American Board, shall use the process for appointments created by the Executive Advisory Committee and Executive Review Committee of 2007.

SECTION C. Dismissal procedures shall take place when a member of the NFTY North American Board has extremely violated the NFTY Constitution, shown a lack of responsibility, behaved in a disruptive and destructive manner, or infringed upon the terms outlined in the NFTY Brit Kehilah .

With all cases excluding infringements of the NFTY Brit Kehilah, dismissal from office shall follow the procedures outlined below:

Paragraph 1: The President shall issue a warning to the NFTY North American Board Member under consideration. When the NFTY North American Board Member under consideration is the President, the Programming Vice President, with the consent of the NFTY North American Board, shall issue the warning.

Paragraph 2: The NFTY Director(s) shall issue a warning to the NFTY North American Board member under consideration.

Paragraph 3: The NFTY North American Board shall ask for the NFTY North American Board member’s resignation. If this is not received, the NFTY North American Board may consider dismissal procedures.

Paragraph 4: The NFTY North American Board may, after extensive review, dismiss any NFTY North American Board Member by at least a majority vote of the NFTY North American Board. SECTION D: In the case of a North American Board Member’s infringement of the NFTY Brit Kehilah, dismissal procedures will follow under the direction and discretion of the NFTY Director(s), in consultation with the NFTY North American Board.

ARTICLE ELEVEN: DUTIES OF THE NFTY NORTH AMERICAN BOARD SECTION A. It shall be the duty of the NFTY PRESIDENT:

1. To determine and execute a vision for NFTY in consultation with the NFTY Leadership Team, to offer direction and orientation for their term.

2. To call and preside over all NFTY North American and General Board Meetings. 3. To be directly responsible for and exercise direct supervision over the NFTY North American Board

and the NFTY General Board. 4. To be the liaison between NFTY and the NFTY Director(s). 5. To be responsible for the execution of the NFTY Constitution and other rules pertaining to NFTY. 6. To define NFTY’s North American priorities and objectives with the NFTY North American Board’s

approval. 7. To act as a public spokesperson for NFTY. 8. To act as a liaison between NFTY and Netzer Olami in the capacity of Rosh Chutz, ambassador

to the other snifim of Netzer Olami. 9. To represent NFTY while serving on the URJ Board of Trustees and Executive Committee, and

any other appropriate and necessary committees, councils, and commissions. 10. To appoint representatives to the URJ Committees and Commissions with the NFTY North

American Board’s approval. 11. To fill vacancies on the NFTY North American Board, pending constitutional rule. 12. To create new NFTY committees and appoint chair people when necessary, upon the NFTY North

American Board’s approval. 13. To coordinate the activities of the Presidents Network.

14. To act as a resource and role model to all members of NFTY, in addition to upholding the NFTY Brit Kehilah.

15. To attend all North American events, including a specified amount of time at Kutz: NFTY’s Campus for Reform Jewish Teens.

16. To act as a liaison in the travel region system under the direction of the NFTY Board and Director(s).

17. To coordinate any activities and/or accept any other duties assigned by the NFTY Director(s). 18. To undertake and coordinate any activities and additional duties which may be necessary to fulfill

the above responsibilities. SECTION B. It shall be the duty of the NFTY PROGRAMMING VICE PRESIDENT:

1. To take the place of the President when so required. 2. To be directly responsible for and to assist in the duties of the President when so required. 3. To emphasize, encourage, and embody the principles of History, Choice through Knowledge, and

Pluralism within our movement as a whole, in addition to the remaining principles stated in the preamble of the NFTY Constitution.

4. To be an educational and programmatic resource to all of NFTY. 5. To coordinate NFTY programs, such as the Study Theme for the present year, and NFTY

Programming Competitions including but not limited to the Nilmad V’Na’aseh Award, with the intent of aiding and strengthening TYGs.

Dear candidates and families,

I have been extremely honored and humbled by the opportunity I have had to serve on the NFTY North American Board as NFTY President. Though I have been fortunate to serve in this capacity, I have been even more fortunate in my ability to defer my college enrollment for a year in order to commit myself to NFTY. There is nothing more fulfilling and powerful than getting up each and every day to focus on NFTY and drive our movement forward.

For me, deciding to defer my college enrollment was both challenging and rewarding. The challenge in my decision came from uncertainties regarding the logistics of a gap year; however, my parents, teachers, guidance counselors, college admission teams were all understanding and supportive of the situation. While making my decision, I discovered that taking a gap year for the purpose of serving a meaningful term on NFTY Board is an incredible and invaluable service to our movement.

As a result of deciding to take a gap year, I have been able to consistently prioritize

NFTY and NFTY responsibilities. This has enabled me to connect with more NFTY participants, effectively support more leaders, form partnerships with more professional staff members, and execute my vision for NFTY with the utmost levels of attention and focus. Above all else, I have been able to dedicate a year of my life to pursuing my strongest passions and to actively embodying my deepest-held Jewish values. For that opportunity, I could not be more grateful.

All of that being said, deferring college enrollment to serve as a NFTY Board member is a

daunting decision to make. It is undoubtedly a decision that should only be made after serious thought and consideration. Taking a gap year involves careful planning, firm commitment, and immense self-discipline. Please note that considering a gap year is not a mandatory step to running for NFTY Board, and it does not mean that NFTY can or will fill all your time for the whole year. In fact, I am only the sixth NFTY President to take a gap year. Before 2013, it was not the norm for the NFTY President to take a gap year. Those who have decided to take a gap year have also gotten separate jobs, taken classes, or volunteered, in order to make their year successful on the whole.

We encourage you to consider the option, but it is not necessary. I would be more than

happy to share more specifics about my experience this year at any time. Dear Candidates and families,

Like any healthy, forward-thinking organization, our work must involve taking a fresh look at what we do and how we do it, to make sure that we maximize our human and financial resources to achieve our mission. The URJ is now adapting and imagining the core areas of our work while investing in the next generation of Jewish leaders and ensuring that we address the challenges of our congregations, our members and youth.

Throughout the URJ, there are going to be a number of changes and initiatives that are going to work on this goal of deepening our impact to those that we serve. This is happening not just in the Youth Department, but also in many different places throughout the URJ. We will continue to experiment and pilot our offerings, as well as looking at making some changes that will help us create that deeper impact.

One of the most significant changes at the URJ is that this will be the last summer that Kutz Camp in Warwick, NY will be in operation. When this decision was made, it was clear that we wanted to move forward in a direction where teens could still benefit from a teen leadership experience, though we haven’t yet defined what that will look like or how that will take shape. We do know that many teens have chosen to remain at their regional camps, rather than attending Kutz Camp. As such, we’ll be exploring all models and ideas around regional camps and teens programming, bringing NFTY to regional camps, and more.

This next incoming North American Board will have the unique opportunity to help shape the future of this type of teen leadership program. With help from the URJ, Kutz and NFTY alumni, as well as other teens leaders, we anticipate that some of the work this year will be to help envision what could be next.

We are looking for partners to help us search for and evaluate our path forward. Those who will find success on the North American Board are those

who are willing to take on the mantle of responsibility and partnership in discovering what new possibilities await teen leaders. And for an openness to brainstorm, to dream, to cultivate ideas in others and to help gather information about what teens want and what can be next.

NFTY’s B’rit K’hilah — Code of Conduct

NFTY is a movement that builds strong, welcoming, inspired communities through teen-powered engagement. This b’rit serves to ensure that we are able to focus on enacting our shared mission. We will promote the creation of a religious youth community based on mutual respect and a sense of personal responsibility. We will treat others with kavod (honor and respect) in order to facilitate the feeling of shalom bayit (peace in the home) and create a sense of NFTY’s welcoming community. Our NFTY community feels incomplete without all our members fully present, I will attend and participate fully in the entire event, unless otherwise agreed upon with the NFTY Regional staff member I will arrive on time, stay until the end, and remain on the event premises at all times. To maintain shalom bayit within our living space I will abide by the event curfew announced by the leadership. At the time of the announced curfew I will go directly to my cabin, hotel room, or host home and remain there until the next session As a means of respect and for the well-being of the community and myself, I agree to exercise proper consent, and I agree to refrain from inappropriate sexual behavior. As NFTY is a safe and inclusive space for all participants, I will not participate in any activities before, during or after events that could be deemed as hazing, sexually harassing, demeaning, hurtful, or bullying. In order to ensure the well-being of myself and my peers, I understand that no guests are allowed at any event, unless the adult leadership grants permission in advance, and that any unauthorized guests will be asked to leave immediately. Because overnight events can cause a lack of sleep and create dangerous driving conditions, I will not drive to, during, or from events, unless advance permission for a special situation is requested in writing by my parent/guardian and granted in writing by the NFTY Regional staff member. This includes driving to/from my home to meet NFTY’s designated transportation. To promote a healthy and safe NFTY environment, I will not possess, consume, or distribute alcoholic beverages, other than that served by adult leadership for Jewish sacramental purposes, even if I am of legal drinking age. I understand that I will have to pay for any damage that I cause. I understand that no gambling is allowed, except for fundraisers approved by the adult leadership. As NFTY is a community that I want to keep safe and free of violence, I will not bring or use any weapons, firearms, or anything that may be construed as a weapon. As NFTY is a community of teens that respect and appreciate the adult leadership and each other, I agree to abide by any additional rules, pertinent to a specific Event, which may be announced, and to accept the consequences of their violation. Kutz Camp Roles and Responsibilities while serving on NFTY North American Board June 23, 2019 – July 25, 2019

Position: NFTY North American Board

Dates: June 12-22 Staff Orientation June 23-July 21 Kutz Camp Session July 21-25 NFTY Mechina July 25-26 Staff Closing Experience CORE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

• The NFTY Board is comprised of six individuals who are elected by their peers of the NFTY General Board. The NFTY Board serves as conveners of the NFTY Incubator with a primary goal of bringing the North American level of NFTY to our most highly engaged Reform Jewish teens.

• Recruitment for the 2019 summer program, which will be the last Kutz summer program on the property of 46 Bowen Road.

• Partnership with Kutz leadership in determining the best way to reach and honor teenage Kutz alumni in our final summer

GENERAL INFORMATION

• This position reports to the NFTY Directors

• NFTY Board members will each have an opportunity to spend time sharing their specific specialty area and expertise with each program area offered in camp

• NFTY Board members will each be responsible for developing and implementing the NFTY Leadership Experience Immersive Learning Block

• The NFTY Board will host a series of ‘meet and greets’ to avail themselves to the general camp population

• The NFTY Board is housed with the Avodah staff members

• Each NFTY Board member serves under contract from the URJ Kutz Camp, and agrees to adhere to all rules and regulations expected of every staff member in camp

• It is understood that if for any reason a NFTY Board member is terminated from camp during the contracted summer session by the Kutz Camp Director, they will immediately resign their NFTY Board position

• Time off for NFTY Board is determined in partnership with the NFTY Directors

• NFTY Board is compensated in the form of a scholarship or honorarium from NFTY rather than salary from Kutz Camp

Position requirements:

• Elected by the NFTY General Board

• Individuals who will approach each day with a camp-first mentality, always with a willingness to step in and support the overall structure of camp

• Represent NFTY as competent leaders and ambassadors to the movement

• Must display enthusiasm and positivity for one’s own role, and encourage this sentiment throughout camp
