To be taken more seriously by authorities
To achieve better outcomes at meetings
Increase in confidence
Gained experience of representing the community
Gained understanding of the workings of council/ government
Recognising residents’ anxieties come from:
lack of confidence in a good outcome fear of the unknown
This often leads to:
Confrontation lack of understanding conflict
Becoming a target....how to handle this?
Don’t take it personally
Don’t make false promises but keep positive
