Directions: collaboratively generate two sentences for this picture with the verbs in the past perfect progressive tense.

Declarative Sentence Formula: Past Perfect Progressive Tense Singular subject + had been + present participle (verb ending with ing) + time phrase + finisher. Plural subject + had been + present participle (verb ending with ing) + time phrase + finisher. Example Singular Subject: The little girl at the head of the line had been traveling to America for several months. Example Plural Subject: For several month, the large group of immigrants had been sailing on a crowded ship to America.
