Please note the times for decorating, registration, and reception. We appreciate those members who have volunteered to help put this show together. The Mayor, David Archie and Dr. Kathleen Monahan have accepted our invitation to attend our reception. We would like everyone to be proud of this organization and have a very nice show Elaine McCormick 2010 DECEMBER ART EXHIBIT Monday, November 29, 10 am—Decorating the Cultural Center. Tuesday, November 30, from 10 am to 12 noon - Bring art to Cultural Center for registration. Wednesday, December 1, - Art will be judged. Art will be judged by Mitch Kolbe. Friday, December 3, from 6:30 pm to 9 pm. - Reception with awards ceremony at 7:30 pm. Please bring finger foods between 6 - 6:30 pm Exhibit will be hung until Wednesday, December 29. Artists will pick up work on Thursday, December 30, from 10am-12 noon. If you cannot pick up your art on this day, please arrange for someone to pick it up for you. RULES 1. One piece of current original framed artwork per member. Artwork must never have been shown before in a TSAA show. 2. Two dimensional works must be wired and ready to hang. (or they won’t be hung) 3. TSAA has the right to refuse any work deemed unsuitable, i.e. nudes. 4. Maximum size shall not exceed 48 inches in any dimension, including FRAME. (We will not hang anything larger.) 5. Entries must remain for the entire show. (NO EXCEPTIONS) 6. In the event of a sale the artist will donate 20% to the Cultural Center. 7. Payment of a $10.00 entry fee will be collected at registration. 8. Only 2010 members are eligible for the show. You must be a paid up member by the …..November meeting to be eligible for the show. Our Annual Winter Show at the Tarpon Springs Cultural Center is coming up for December 3. Please note the times for decorating, registration, and reception. We appreciate those members who have volunteered to help put this show together. The Mayor, David Archie and Dr. Kathleen Monahan have accepted our invitation to attend our reception. Tuesday, November 30, from 10 am to 12 noon - Bring art to Cultural Center for

registration.

Wednesday, December 1, - Art will be judged. Art will be judged by Mitch Kolbe.

Friday, December 3, from 6:30 pm to 9 pm. - Reception with awards ceremony at 7:30

Future Schedule: Plein Air will meet at Tarpon Springs Golf course the

month of December. We will meet near the club house.

A workshop with Melissa Nece will be held at The Crystal Beach Community Center on December 9, from 9:30 to 3:00. She will demonstrate in acrylics but all other mediums may participate; cost is $20.00. The Pumpreys, a husband and wife team will demonstrate at the January meeting, with a workshop to follow if there is enough interest. Janet King, a watercolorist from Sebring will do a workshop on Thursday, February 8. She was a prize winner at Florida Water Color show. This will cost more as she is very well known - maybe $50.00. Please call Jane Lawson 934-6097 or Pat Hadadd at 938-3971 if you are interested in any of these programs.

TSAA has a web page!

http://www.tarponspringsartassociation.com. The web page is including all members who want a page of their own linked to it. What is needed from each member is: 1. six (6) photos in a .jpg file. 2. Description of each photo - Title of painting, medium, and size. Size is optional. 3. A short bio and in that bio include your web page if you have one and either phone # or email address so if someone is looking at your page and would like to get in touch with you they can. Send all this information to [email protected]. If you already have sent your information and decide you would like to add to it, send it and it will get added.

November Demonstration

Melissa Miller Nece demonstrated in Acrylic. She did a wonderful demonstration. (Sorry, no pictures, my battery went dead and all the batteries I had with me were

dead.

DRAWING CLASSES AT THE TARPON SPRINGS RECREATION CENTER: Kathy Rabold will teach you to draw like a champ during a 4 week drawing class. All you need is a large tablet of Newsprint and a box of black charcoals. This class starts on Monday morning January 10th from 9:30 am - noon. $30 if resident; $33.21 non-resident Sign up with Margie 727-942-5628

Artist of the Month' guidelines 1. All artwork must be submitted by 1:15 pm. 2. Balloting will take place between 1:15 pm and 1:30pm. 3. Write clearly. The AotM manager will use his/her best judgment to decide what number is indicated if a question arises.

4. The winner is responsible for delivering his/her painting to the Cultural Center within 24 hours and removing his/her painting by the next meeting.

5. An artist may only win one time in a TSAA year, i.e. September - May.

6. Art must be no larger than 38” wide x 40” long/high, including frame.

Artist of the Month Kathy Rabold’s acrylic painting was selected as the best by the TSAA members for November. Beautiful work!

News from the Entertainment World!!! Harry Antoniou 22 years old, from the island of Cyprus, grandson of Harry and Yiota Theofanus, is one of the contestants on the X Factor3 (singing contest similar to American Idol) in Athens, Greece and can be seen Live

every Friday at 2:00 pm our time, on Antenna1 (Greek channel). We wish him success and to go all the way!!! We are rooting for you Harry!!!

Meghan Mulligan, 16 year old granddaughter of Robert & Patsy Renz has been chosen to play in the Florida All State Band. She plays the clarinet.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR MEMBERS

Heather Moore’s "neighbor" hosted a jewelry and glassware show where she sold about $500 worth of handmade statement jewelry, painted glassware, and greeting cards. All guests enjoyed her Italian cooking: ravioli with meatballs, steak and sausage plus appetizers and wine. A fun and festive time was had and she had a banner "sales" day.

Marilynn Pohlman sold a painting last month, "Misty", also nine small paintings at the "Christmas Jar Bazaar".

Susan McCubbin sold two original watercolors that were hanging at Studio 212 Art Guild. Lynnette Vaughan recently sold two plein air Florida landscape oil paintings at the opening weekend of the Dunedin Fine Art Center (DFAC) Holiday Show.

Al Sterner sold a painting at the performing Arts Center.

VENUE NEWS: All of the exhibit venue coordinators are asking for art for each of the venues.

Tarpon Springs Library: Kathy Rabold (781-6859) November 17 - December 17: The GRO-GROUP. Kathy Rabold will display their Fairy Houses created on GREAT AMERICAN TEACH-IN DAY November 17th. The work on canvases will be assemblages of Nature's Wonders. Please stop in the Friends of the Library Room to view the GRO-GROUP'S artistic works. The GRO-GROUP is a group of mentally and physically challenged young adults who meet in the Friends of the Library Room every Wednesday. This is Kathy's 4th year with these GRO-GROUP artists.
