Pass Pro Gaps• The wider you are the bigger

the hole, the DL has to play with.

• Use in practice to build confidence in young OL.

• Have running plays to keep defender guessing.

Stance• 2 pt Stance- used by Tackles but

can be also used by Guards. “Balance is the Key!”

• 3 pt Stance- used by both Tackles & Guards. “Head must be Up!”

• Technique Key• Both have stagger right and left.

45* Kick Step• 45* Kick Step- used by Tackle when the defender is wide. Also used by Guards and Center in a Fan protection Scheme. • Technique Key• Player needs to stay square with LOS. • Keep the same stagger as in their

stance the whole time. • Keep hands up high, “Don’t Let Them

Drop”• Speed comes as player gets used to the

step.

Back Kick Step• Back Kick Step- used by Tackle when the

defender is close. Also used by Guards and Center in a Fan protection Scheme.

• Technique Key• Player needs to stay square with LOS. • Keep the same stagger as in their stance the

whole time. • Keep hands up high, “Don’t Let Them

Drop”• Speed comes as player gets used to the step.

Dead Hand• Dead Hand- used by all OL, in order

to make defender commit to his opening move.

• Technique Key• Player’s hand is put out with no

intention of trying to block defender.

• As player moves the hand back, Player then must deliver a punch.

Kick and Ride out• Kick and Ride out- used by

Tackles ONLY when the defender is up field.

• Technique Key• Teach the Technique in steps• Lower back hand must be hard.• Top hand must be weak. • Use after 3 kick steps.

Stick Drill• Stick Drill- used by all OL to help

with their Club Technique. • Technique Key• Arms must be locked out. • Defender pulls---OL post steps. • Defender pushes---OL kick steps.

Quick Sets• Quick Set – used when the defender is

aligned tight on your outside ear or inside. – 4 steps– Club Inside, defender is head up or inside.

Club Outside, defender is outside.Regular Inside, defender is head up or inside.Regular Outside, defender is outside.

– Technique Key – If the rusher rushes outside, kick step and

stretch the defender.– If the rusher rushes inside, post step and

keep defender outside.

Post Down the Line• Post Down the Line – used when the

defender is partially covering you or is in the gap outside requiring you to move outside to cover him.

• Technique Key• Player needs to stay square with LOS.• Player is, “Cutting him off at the

Path”. • Front leg is the post leg and back leg

slides.• Player lean a way from the post leg.• Big eyes• Hands are punching one at a time.

Wave Drill• Wave Drill- put’s all the pass pro

drills together.• Technique Key• Coach points where OL go’s.

–Back – OL kick steps back.–Front- OL post steps front. –Rt/LT side- OL post steps down the line or kick steps 45*.

Rabbit Drill• Rabbit Drill- used by all OL to help

with their pass pro technique.• Technique Key• Start with hands behind, work up

to punching.• OL must keep head back.• 45* kick step wave drill

Bull Rush Drill• Bull Rush Drill- is needed by all OL. • Technique Key• OL must get a wide base. • OL must understand when to use. • When digging in, OL must push

forward too.

Center Punch Drill• Punch –the timing of the punch for

maximum impact is critical. The aiming point for the punch is the inside number. Nose of headgear should have inside leverage.

• Don’t just have the hand HANG!!
