Each country in the Spanish-speaking world has distinct musical styles and traditions. Many of the unique rhythms and dances of Spanish-speaking countries are now popular in the United States. This music features instruments such as guitars, violins, accordions, and various types of percussion such as güiros, sticks, cymbals, cow bells, and drums. As you read the captions, see how many words you can understand due to their similarity to English words. After your read, we will listen to examples of each type of music. Listen for the different instruments used.
El flamenco es un baile típico de España. El instrumento más importante en el flamenco es la guitarra.
