“If there’s a better chamber orchestra in the world today, I haven’t heard it.”-The Guardian

Under the direction of Artistic Director and Lead Violinist Richard Tognetti, the Australian Chamber Orchestra has become a one of the most energetic and sought after chamber groups of this era. They are joined by the celebrated Swedish clarinetist Martin Fröst, who The New York Times says exhibits “a musicianship unsurpassed by any clarinetist—perhaps any instrumentalist—in memory.”

Rapunzel lives with her loving, yet very overprotective, Nan, after her mother left across the big sea. Year after year, Nan builds their tower higher and higher to protect them from the disgraceful, scary world. Every year, Rapunzel’s hair grows longer, and so does her curiosity about the world outside. It isn’t until Rafi, a local boy, comes by and befriends Rapunzel that she finally gets the courage to be free.

Señora tortUGaBy roxanne Schroeder-arce

A celebration of the assimilation of two cultures and languages, this English/Spanish bilingual play uses the wisdom tales of the Mexican culture to give hope to a family faced with too much reality. Young Pedro and his family make their home in a barn on the Mexican border. Pedro complains of having nothing and brings his mother many headaches. On one occasion, she invites a hungry woman to share the family dinner. But this Señora returns time and again to eat and tell fantastical stories of the enchanted serpent and Cucuy of Mexican legend, filling Pedro’s nights with heroic, yet frightening dreams. Surprisingly, Pedro is learning from these wisdom tales, but his mother is suspicious of the Señora until it is revealed that Señora Tortuga holds the thread that ties their past dreams to their future.
