Thompson Cat of Memphis had a large challenge. How do we make a high quality generator enclosure and fuel tank on a large scale cost effective?

The answer was both innovative and simple. With E.K. Machine Power Product's enclosure and fuel tank, the project was assembled on site which dramatically reduced labor and shipping costs.

The Anda Distribution project consisted of a new 2500 KW, Cat ® 3516C-HD emergency generator with a level one sound attenuated enclosure and a huge 9000 gallon UL142 fuel base tank.

The solution called for shipping the Cat generator directly to the site rather than having it sent to the enclosure manufacturer for assembly. With a unit of this size, it is nearly impossible to ship the finished unit in one piece after assembly. In addition, shipping charges are excessive on these oversized units.

Cat Thompson was able to perform this field assembly with a crane operator who had two assistants and a project manager with one assistant. These five people assembled the massive unit in four hours, issue free.

Kip Lemons of Thompson Cat was able to save tens of thousands of dollars on the project while maintaining low cost and high quality. Kip said recently that he intends to use this method as a blueprint for large jobs in the future.
