Approximately 9,000 valid codes◦ Maintained / categorized by U.S. EPA

Source Classification◦ Point Sources = 8-characters◦ Nonpoint, Non-Road, On-Road, Event and Biogenic

Sources = 10-characters

EVERY SOURCE you enter into TEISS must have an SCC!

Used as primary identifying data element in EPA's National Emission Inventory (NEI)
