☆Borrowing Books

Borrowing is easy. Just take your student card and the book(s) to the Service Counter (on

the 2nd floor of the Main Library) and show them to the person there. You can use your student

card at all three university libraries.

☆Returning Books

To return the books, just take them to the Service Counter by the due date and hand them

to the person at the Service Counter. Do not leave books there unless they have been checked

at the Service Counter or they will not be considered ‘returned’.

If you returned books after the due date, you will not be able to borrow any other books for

the same number of days that you were late. Please return the books by the due date.

Automatic Book Check-out Machine

This is located on the 2nd floor of the Main Library.

☆2nd Floor Facilities

Entrance and Exit Gate

You can enter freely with your bags, etc. Be sure to use the

correct gate when entering and leaving. If you are leaving and

carrying a book that hasn’t been checked out, an alarm will

ring.

The Service Counter

After choosing books from the 2nd and 3rd floor sections,

take them here with your student card to check them out.

When returning books, take them here to the person at the

counter. If the library is closed you can leave the books in the

Book Drop near the library entrance.

Current Periodicals

Over 100 periodicals in several languages, scientific journals,

legal journals and magazines such as Time and Newsweek are

available. Back issues are kept for one year. As a rule

periodicals can not be borrowed and should not be taken

outside the library.

Computer Section

You can use these computers to search for books or to use the

internet. There are more computers available on the 2nd floor.

Reference Section

Reference books on various subjects, ‘white papers’, and

dictionaries in many languages are provided for your

reference.

They can not be borrowed or taken out of the library. If you do

not know how to use this section, please ask for help at the

Reference Section Desk.

2F-2nd Section

This section contains 60,000 books on Philosophy,

Religion, History and the Humanities (except for

Linguistics and Literature), Politics, Economics,

Sociology, Agriculture, Commerce and Industry, and the

Arts.

This section is books written by Ehime University

professors and other special collections.

☆ 3rd Floor Facilities

Newspaper Section

National newspapers, Ehime newspapers, Sports

papers and newspaper in other languages are

available.

The latest newspapers are in the 3rd Floor where

you can sit and read.

3F-1st Section

There are 12,000 books, on Linguistics and

Literature here. You can also find elementary and

junior high school textbooks.

3F-3rd&4th Section

This section holds 32,000 books on the subjects of

Natural Science, Soil Science, Machinery and

Electrical Engineering.

Restricted Stacks

Ehime University students can use the books in the Restricted

Stacks. There is the Service Counter here where you can register.

All bags, etc., should be left in the lockers just outside. There are

400,000 books and periodicals here.

☆ 4th Floor Facilities

Lounge

There are large-sized art books and past newspapers.

Multimedia Section

There are three booths and a video collection you can use

freely. Headphones are available at the 2nd floor Service

Counter.

Group Study Room

You are welcome to use the Group Study Rooms. You can

reserve a room one week in advance using the library

homepage.

☆ OPAC(Online Public Access Catalog)

Many books and all periodicals published after 1988 can be searched for on

this system. You can access the system from the library homepage, but there

is also a special OPAC computer in the computer section on the 2nd floor.

Click on ‘Help’ in the upper left corner of the screen if you want directions

for how to use it.

The library homepage has information on library

use, facilities and a catalog for book searching.

The books are arranged according to

subject. There are classification tables

posted at the front of each section.

☆Other services

○ Copying

Near the entrance of the library there are prepaid

card and coin operated copying machines. These are

for making copies of library materials. You need to fill

out a form to use them.

(The Medical and Agricultural Libraries have coin

operated copying machines.・1 page / 10 yen)

○ Reference Service

The Service Counter will help you with:

●OPAC use

●Searching for books or magazines

●Making a list of books on a certain subject

●Finding newspapers and periodicals

●Finding addresses of research institutes

●Finding information on people or authors

●Finding books in other libraries

The people at the Service Counter will try to help you with whatever you are looking for.
