Drawing, sketching and painting have been a lifelong passion of Ellen Bailey’s since she picked up her first crayons as a child. Watercolor is her medium of choice. Her inspirations include children, animals, an abundant vegetable garden and

even the pounding ocean.

Barbara Berrner became fascinated with the process of silk-screening an image on paper and printing on material. Recently she has added tissue paper to her work, successfully combining several mediums into one piece of art. Barbara’s works are in various private collections, the city of Livermore and the Triton Museum in Santa Clara.

Join Ellen & Barbara for an artist talk on July 8th at 10:30AM.

Hayward Senior Center

Dick Albert’s works will be displayed from July 9-September 9. After retiring as an English teacher, Dick studied watercolor with John Komisar at Chabot College to learn how to do properly what he had been doing on his own since childhood. Most of his paintings are either from his yearly Death Valley camping-painting trips in January or his annual

ten day visit to Morro Bay.

Longtime, Dedicated Volunteer Retires

James May has been a volunteer in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) for over 10 years. Jim started as a income tax preparer at the Kenneth Aitken Senior Center, but quickly took on a leadership role, that included leading training, ordering materials, attending meetings, preparing taxes, transmitting taxes, trouble shooting tax problems and mentoring

other volunteers. Under Jim’s leadership, the tax program improved greatly, becoming more efficient and having the lowest rejection rates for

taxes filed to the IRS in the area. Jim has left us a better program than when he started and we know the hundreds of seniors, families, other

volunteers and staff will miss him dearly. We wish he and his wife much enjoyment in retirement and in their travels.
