The PCA/EA Dual Member Rebate Scheme is a program jointly developed by Pony Club Australia andEquestrian Australia to provide a benefit to riding members of both organisations. Sessions include Gear check, Show jump course design and build, SJ poles and grids and course jumping, lungeing, innovative coaching methods for younger riders on the flat, PCAV Grievance procedure, NCAS accreditation, Sports CONNECT.

No application was received for either Team Manager or Team Coach for the exchange. People are needed for this role and can learn by taking on a shadow Team Manager or Team Coach at the IMG 2012 being hosted by PC NSW.

Rule Changes for Dressage and Showjumping State Championship
The Dressage and Showjumping State Championships for 2012 will be conducted using the Rule Books current for the year of competition.
There have been some Rule amendments and cosmetic changes made to the Bylaws, Gear Rules, Horse Trails Rules and Showjumping Rules.
The new Rule Books will be available by February 2012.

Zone Representative Report Business from the last State Council meeting
The 24/7 insurance didn't get up. Many clubs had already collected their fees and PCAV would have ended up out of pocket by adopting it this year. It will be looked at prior to next membership year to try and line up for the start of the next year.
Scoring at State Horse Trials and the Grade 3 / 4 Challenge. A motion to adopt standardised dressage test scores versus current world cup system was raised. If you would like more information please ask email me.
The Showjumping and Dressage State Championships will be held at Albury in the North Eastern Zone over 2 days.
The State Horse Trials will be held in the Southern Metropolitan Zone at the Mornington Peninsula Pony Club grounds, Baxter.
PCAV turns 60 in 2014. Members are very welcome to send me any thoughts or ideas on how to celebrate this event. It is important as the 50 year celebration was missed.

Chief Instructor ReportCompetition It has been good to see a lot of the zone members enjoying the spring gymkhana and local agricultural show circuit. Regardless of the riders level, it seems most are just happy with an improvement on last year.
Squad We held a debrief meeting at the end of the 2011 series which discussed the areas that we felt could be improved for 2012. There are some preliminary dates on the Zone calendar and the application forms will be circulated to clubs and posted on the website in February 2012.
Zone Series - Dressage, showjumping & Horse Trials A survey was sent out to all clubs. There were 10 replies from the 25 clubs across the Zone. Based on the number of responses from clubs, the Zone does not have a clear mandate to change the current selection process for the Dressage & Showjumping Zone Teams. However the survey results indicated there is some support for the concept of a series. Greg Hair5145 5682
NOTE In General Business the suggestion of using a series of events rather than the current practice of a one day zone qualifier in show jumping and dressage was discussed. As a result of 15 clubs not responding to the survey the idea had to be abandoned in 2012. As many of the clubs that responded were in support of the idea it can be considered again for 2013.
Todd Bromwich receives PCAV Award of MeritThe Pony Club Association of Victoria Award of Merit was presented to
Todd Bromwich for service to the Bairnsdale Pony Club in December 2011. The Bairnsdale Pony club nominated Todd for the Award of Merit, the
nomination was then considered and approved by the EGZ committee and then forwarded to PCAV for approval. Well done Todd.

WHAT DOES THE ‘C’ CERTIFICATE INVOLVE?
Riders must be 12 years of age and have completed their D certificate.
There are several components to the C certificate test:1.riding2.horsemastership3.general knowledge

First Aid at Gymkhanas Clubs must have First Aid available at events they run, whether Interschools or their own club events.
Hire of Zone Dressage ArenaThe Dressage Arena is stored at the Bairnsdale Pony Club grounds. The arena is for hire with a charge of $50 to apply, and the hirer is responsible for paying for breakages to be replaced at a cost of $33 for rails and $35.20 for cones. 2011 EGZ CHAMPIONSHIPSThe EGZPC Zone Showjumping & Dressage Championships were held in Bairnsdale in December. The day was well supported with 141 entries from 16 clubs. The weather held off for most of the day and the competition was of a high standard. Thank-you to Val Armstrong, EGZ Secretary for the amazing amount of work done behind the scenes to make this event and all the other zone activities happen. Thank you also to Jan Bromwich who is always working tirelessly to ensure the day is a success for the kids. The third thank you is to Matt Gault & Stratford Pony club who provided their wonderful show jump equipment and the course builders, Jim Brown & Matt Gault, the judges Dallas Jennings (sj) & John Walker (SJ), Robert Heeble, Bev Milner, Shelley Higgins, Bridget Kase and Bev Weir for dressage.
The placegetters in Dressage Grades 1,2 &3, and Showjumping Grades A, B & C will represent the Zone at the State Championships to be held at the Albury/Wodonga Equestrian Centre on the 25th & 26th February 2012.

In the early 1970's my children wanted to join Pony Club. As we lived on the NSW/ Vic border in Albury, we had a
choice of either NSWPC or PCAV. We went with our friends to NSWPC.
At Wirlinga Pony Club in the late 70's I gained my Instructors Certificate under
the guidance of the late Joe Hawkins, Ivan Hillier and Brian Lucas Senior. I became Club delegate to Zone, and
later Zone delegate to State, representing Zone 20 of NSW.
In 1984 I went to WA as a guest
instructor with the Perth Horse and Pony Club for a year. I returned
to PCAQ in 1985 and worked with Murgon Pony Club and later Pomona
Pony Club where we were involved with the Queensland Games Squad and training for the Prince Phillip Cup
which we won in 1991.
From 1991 onwards I returned to Victoria and was seconded by the late
Nance Jennings to join Bairnsdale Pony Club and had the following roles
1992 Club Delegate to Zone
1994-1995 Zone Vice President
1995-2001 Zone President
2002-2011 Zone Representative
As I had an ongoing interest in games I joined the State Games Subcommittee for about 4 years then Chair of
National Mounted Games Subcommittee, with the last 4 years on Rules Committee and 2 years as
Technical Delegate to State Games with the transfer from Werribee to Bacchus
Marsh.
It has been a wonderful journey with great people and I recommend to anyone to get more involved
in a great youth movement. I now have
friends all over Australia through the Pony Club Association.
