You have recently learned about the importance of the Nile River, and the surrounding valley.

You have also learned that Egypt was divided into two kingdoms until one man, Narmer, united both.

Like Mesopotamia (and societies around the world to this very day), Egyptian society had strong class divisions.

Egypt was ruled by all powerful pharaohs

Egyptians believed in many gods and goddesses and in life after death (afterlife)

The Egyptians of the Old Kingdom built huge stone pyramids as tombs for their pharaohs
