Breathtaking adventures and extreme

value for money are the hallmarks of a

‘You Just Live Once’ trip. Our trips

are aimed at 20-40 somethings who

prefer a fun, independent, convenient

and responsible way to travel. The

structure for a great travel experience

is in place, but plenty of free time

means you can go off and make your

own discoveries.

What makes us different from other

tour operators is that most of our trips

are led by us personally. We could

easily pay others to lead our trips but

we do what we do because we love it.

Driven by our dedication, passion and

experience we strive to make each tour

more exciting and interesting than the

last. Whenever it is not possible for us

to be on the trips, we only use local

leaders. This is our core philosophy,

and one that works perfectly. By

employing a leader who is local to the

area you are travelling through, you

benefit from the wealth of his or her

first hand knowledge. He knows the

best restaurants to eat in, the best food

to choose when you’re there and how

to read the menu! He knows the best

time to visit the sites, the best way to

get from A to B, the best backstreets to

explore, and most importantly how to

communicate with everyone else in the

country. Fully trained, licensed and

fluent in English, your local leader

will be the difference between great

holiday experience and an exceptional

one.

We travel on local transport whenever

practical and we stay in locally-owned

centrally positioned, spotlessly clean

and comfortable superior hotels unless

different arrangements are specified in

the brochure. This means that the

prices are fantastic - always the best

on the market - and you’re immersing

yourself in the culture while

supporting local businesses especially

when outside Europe.

Many of your most memorable

experiences will occur when you branch

out and do your own thing, and we

understand that different people have

different interests, so we build in free time

to make your own discoveries. The

framework is in place, and the details are

taken care of, but on many days, you

decide what you want to see and do. After

all, you might be thoroughly sick and

tired of temples, while another traveller

just can't get enough of them. It's your

holiday, so it's your choice. We aim to

cover off the 'must see' places (after all we

all have a list of things we want to see in

our lives!) but also take time to get off the

beaten track and see the weird and

wonderful things that you'll be talking

about for years to come.

HOW IS YOUJUSTLIVEONCE DIFFERENT?

CAIRO - EGYPT

Our direct flight to Cairo leaves Malta at 16:05 and arrives at the brand new terminal in Cairo Airport at 18:40. A local

representative of youjustliveonce.com will greet us at the airport and assist through entry visa formalities. We will then be

driven to the hotel in Cairo in a private vehicle and where we will be given a short briefing about the next day’s activities.

The evening is free. Providing there is time, one can opt for an optional dinner cruise on the Nile or else take a relaxing evening

followed by an early sleep in view of a full next day.

GREAT EGYPTIAN MUSEUM – PYRAMIDS OF GIZA & SPHINX

After breakfast, our guide will meet us at the hotel lobby and drive us to Giza plateau where we can admire the great pyramids of

Cheops, Chephren and Mykerions. Sole survivors from the ancient Seven Wonders of the World, the pyramids are the planet’s oldest

tourist attraction! The largest of the three great pyramids, the one at Cheops (Khufu) is constructed from over 2.5 million limestone

blocks and it is thought to have taken more than 20 years to construct. Next to the pyramids is also the famous Sphinx. An Egyptology

expert will accompany us at all these attractions to give us a true understanding of our ‘discoveries’.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. On display is a rare collection of 5000 years of art the largest and

most precious collection of Egyptian art in the world. Over 250,000 genuine artefacts are presented, including an exhibit dedicated to

the Tutankhamen collection of treasures, gold and jewellery, as it was enclosed in his tomb for over 3,500 years before being

discovered in the 1920s. A very important aspect of this visit is the knowledge that our local Egyptology guide will pass on to us at the

museum. It will bring all the temples and treasures that you will see in the coming days into perspective. From the museum it’ll probably be time for us to grab some lunch. Provided that we have time on our hands, our recommendation

would be to have it somewhere around the Khan El Khalili Bazaars. We’ll be driven there by our driver and should have free time to

roam around the oldest bazaar of its kind in Egypt. The Khan El Khalili is legendary for fine brassware, copper, perfumes, leather,

silver, gold and antiques but it’s not just a mecca for shoppers… it’s also a mecca for photographers or for people who just love to

absorb the smells, sights and sounds of a different place.

For those who have already been to Cairo before, an alternative option such as a tour to the Citadel and the Alabaster Mosque will be

available. This will be done in combination with a tour to the Coptic region, home to the Hanging Church, Abu Serga church and Ben

Ezra synagogue.

In the evening, our driver will see us off at the train station where we’ll board the overnight sleeper train to Aswan. This train is

comfortable and an experience on its own. Dinner will be served in the private cabins and is included.

ASWAN – HIGH DAM – PHILAE TEMPLE

Today, breakfast is served on the train before arrival in Aswan. Our local representative will greet us at the train station and accompany

us to see the High Dam – a modern feat of engineering - creating the world’s largest artificial lake, Lake Nasser!

Today's highlight is a visit to the romantic Philae Temple on Agilika Island - dedicated to the goddess Isis which we will reach by

felucca which makes quite a leisurely trip on its own. The main Temple of Isis and its monuments were built between the 26th-dynasty

and the Roman period and were removed from the island of Philae which lies submerged most of the year by the waters of Lake

Nasser.

As the sun sets, we can enjoy some free time in the colourful souks and markets or simply relax and watch an amazing sunset in

Egypt's southernmost town straddling the River Nile.

ASWAN – ABU SIMBEL

Today one can opt to explore Aswan or else take the highly recommended optional full day trip to Abu Simbel. Fronted by four

huge 20m-high figures of Ramses II, The Great Temple of Abu Simbel is probably the most famous Egyptian temple.

Originally carved into the mountainside adjoining the Nile, the temples were moved here during the construction of the Aswan

High Dam in the 1960s to save them from inundation from the Nile waters. Nearby, also saved, lies the small Temple of the

King's wife Nefertari, dedicated to the goddess Hathor. This option includes transfers to/from Aswan in an air conditioned

private vehicle as part of a convoy of vehicles that make the trip every day. Whenever possible we’ll join the convoy that

leaves early in the morning. This allows us to be in Abu Simbel before it gets very hot. It will also enable us to be back in

Aswan relatively early which gives us ample time to go round town.

ASWAN

Today is a free day and is intended to be a break from the temples and places of interest. It is perfect to chill out and explore

Aswan – small enough to walk around and graced with the most beautiful setting on the Nile. Here the river flows through

amber desert and granite rocks, round emerald islands covered in palm groves and tropical plants. In Aswan, the pace of life is

slow and relaxing – this along with the scenery and landscapes lead to it being often considered to be more African than Middle

Eastern.

One can just stroll by the waterfront, drift along the Nile on a felucca or take some time to explore a typical Nubian village. In

the evening, one can visit the local souk which is considered to be one of the most authentic in Egypt or enjoy dinner in a local

restaurant by the sea.

Page 7: EGYPTIAN IMMERSION ITINERARY · In the afternoon, we will visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. On display is a rare collection of 5000 years of art the largest and most precious

LUXOR – KARNAK – LUXOR TEMPLE

After breakfast at our hotel in Aswan, we’ll be accompanied by our rep to the train station where you’ll board the train to Luxor…

often called the world’s greatest open air museum. The number and the preservation of the monuments in the Luxor area are probably

unparalleled anywhere else in the world. This, combined with the undeniable charm of the town makes Luxor the ‘tourist capital of

Egypt’.

We can practically spend the entire morning at the Temple of Karnak - the home temple of the god Amun-Re. Karnak is the biggest

temple complex in the world, covering an area of 100 hectares and there is nowhere more impressive to the first-time visitor. Much of

it has been restored during the last century and more artefacts are unearthed each year. In ancient times, Karnak was known as Ipet-isut,

'The most select of places'.

Luxor is also home to the Temple of Luxor, the only one open by day and night. As the sun sets, the Temple of Luxor, close to a large

tourist souk, seems to stand apart from the world of the living. Its columns, colossal statues and bays recover their serenity, oblivious to

the carriages passing by. We will visit the temple late afternoon to give ourselves enough time to see the temple by daylight. Then we’ll

find a quiet corner to chill out until the temple is beautifully lit after sunset. Then we can enjoy it when it’s very mysterious and at its

most romantic. A good idea for the evening would be to attend the Sound and Light Show at the temple… quite impressive and mystic.

APRIL

Page 8: EGYPTIAN IMMERSION ITINERARY · In the afternoon, we will visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. On display is a rare collection of 5000 years of art the largest and most precious

LUXOR – VALLEY OF THE KINGS – DEIR EL-BAHRI – COLOSSI OF MNEMNON

The adventurous will be up for an early rise this morning but it’s more than justified. How about starting the day cruising over the

many treasures of Luxor aboard a hot air balloon? The hot air balloon experience is a great one from observing the preparation for take

off to the crash landing at the end. All participants will be given refreshments and a flight certificate before returning to the hotel in

time for breakfast.

After breakfast we will start our tour of the West Bank by visiting the Necropolis of Thebes. Then, we’ll drive to the Valley of Kings, a

vast City of the Dead where magnificent tombs were carved into the desert rocks, decorated richly, and filled with treasures for the

afterlife by generations of Pharaohs. King Tutankhamen’s tomb and that of Queen Nefertari are probably the most famous. The latter is

closed for public and the former is accessible against payment.

On the return journey we’ll visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut (Ancient Egypt’s only female Pharaoh) at Deir el-Bahri, situated

dramatically below the cliffs as if nature itself had built this extraordinary monument.

We will also stop at the famed Colossi of Memnon. Known in Ancient Greek times for their haunting voices at dawn, the Colossi are

two gigantic sitting statues representing Amenophis III.

In the evening, we will take the overnight sleeper train back to Cairo. Dinner will be served on the train.

CAIRO - MALTA

We will have breakfast on board the train and will arrive in Cairo in the morning. Our representative will meet us at the train

station and accompany us to the airport. The flight back to Malta departs from Cairo Airport at 12:30am. The estimated time of

arrival in Malta is at 15:20 hrs.

If you have more days available and you would like to extend your stay in Egypt, we can offer you a number of interesting

options depending on your tastes. We can add a 3 day action packed desert safari or maybe you are into snorkelling and diving

and you would like to spend 3 days in the resort town of Sharm el-Sheik. If you have 2 weeks available, we can offer you an

itinerary that takes in all the highlights of the country… the cultural ones, the desert and the sea! Just get in touch with us and let

us inspire you!

The focus of the Egyptian Immersion trip is on providing you with maximum value for money. All hotels used on the trip have been

chosen on the basis of location, cleanliness and comfort however they are not luxury 5 Star hotels. The names of the hotels are not

included in the brochure as it’s not possible to block rooms so much in advance since our groups are small. We have short-listed a

number of superior quality hotels at every destination where we have an overnight and we will go for the best option once the tour is

closed and number of travellers confirmed. All hotels short-listed come with en-suite bathrooms and most include top facilities such

as swimming pools, restaurants and bars etc. and have very good reviews. They’ve all been used previously on

YouJustLiveOnce.com trips and always drew positive comments. On the Egyptian Immersion tour we will also spend 2 nights on a

deluxe sleeper train. Accommodation will be in private twin sleeper cabins. Breakfast and Dinner will also be served on board and are

included as per itinerary. Needless to say, one should keep in mind that Middle Eastern standards would not necessarily be on par

with European ones.

A Travel Insurance Policy is compulsory for those joining us on the Egyptian Immersion Trip. For your own comfort, we can include

you in the group travel policy. If you prefer to buy your own insurance policy, please specify “No” in the Booking Form. We

recommend that you arrange your travel insurance immediately after booking your trip, just in case you need to cancel your booking.

The price of our recommended Policy is € 30 (incl. duty) and below is a summary of benefits included. If you’re arranging your own

travel insurance, make sure that at least the benefits below are included. You will need to confirm with You Just Live Once, the

policy number of your travel insurance a few weeks before departure.

as it sees fit and recover the costs thereof from the Client. 15 b) Code of Conduct: If the Tour Leader considers the actions or conduct of any client is likely to

condition at the time of booking and make arrangements for the

provision of any medication or other treatment required during the

booking conditions and result in such persons being excluded form

the tour in which case all monies paid will be forfeited. If the chosen

holiday includes a cruise or excursion or transfer by boat of any sort the

Client must make it known at the time of booking if he/she is unable to

swim. This will not prevent the Client from participating in the tour but

will enable ‘You Just Live Once’ to take additional precautions for the

Client’s safety at such times as may be appropriate.
