EGG OSMOSIS EXPERIMENT

Page 2: Egg Osmosis Experiment

To observe osmosis in a cell

1) Place eggs in vinegar

2) Measure the weight of the egg

PURPOSE

Page 3: Egg Osmosis Experiment

3) Measure the size of the egg

4) Place one egg in water and one egg in corn syrup

5) Weigh and measure egg

PURPOSE

Page 4: Egg Osmosis Experiment

Corn Syrup Egg• The weight is going to be

lighter• The size is going to be

smaller• Its going to look a little

bit brown and yellow

HYPOTHESIS

Water Egg• The weight is going to be

heavier • The size is going to be

bigger• It’s going to look the

same

HYPOTHESIS

• Vinegar• Corn syrup• 2 eggs

MATERIALS

• Measuring tape and string

• Water• 2 beakers• Balance

OBSERVATIONS

Corn Syrup Egg (After 48 hours)

Water Egg (After 48 hours)

Vinegar Egg (After 24 hours)

Page 9: Egg Osmosis Experiment

OBSERVATIONS

• 1) bubbles coming out of egg

• 2) after 24hrs white foam is on top of the water

• 3) the skin is gone and feels soft, jelly like

• 4) eggs got larger from sitting in water for 2 days

• 5) water egg got larger, syrup egg got smaller

Page 10: Egg Osmosis Experiment

Corn Syrup Egg• Egg got smaller• Water left egg

• Water moved from high to low concentration

(osmosis)

CONCLUSION

Page 11: Egg Osmosis Experiment

Water Egg• Water egg got larger• Water entered egg

• Water moved from high to low concentration

(osmosis)•

CONCLUSION

Corn Syrup Egg• Weight- right, I thought it

would weight more• Size- right, I though it

would be smaller• Looks- right, I thought it

would a bit yellow

CONCLUSION (HYPOTHESIS)
