The most important research for me is on the tensile properties of cement concrete. The tensile strength of cement concrete is low, so tensile properties have not been treated as a very important property. However, the occurrence and growth of “cracks”, which are very important in “durability of concrete structures”, are greatly related to tensile properties. Therefore, I am developing a special testing equipment and test method for direct tensile test, and studying the tensile properties of various types of cement concrete by using the equipment.

小出　英夫教授

私にとって最も重要な研究は、セメントコンクリートの引張特性の解明です。セメントコンクリートは引張強度が小さく、そのため引張特性についてはこれまであまり注目されていませんでした。しかしながら、耐久性にとって重要な“ひび割れ”の発生や進展は、この引張特性の影響を大きく受けると考えられます。そこで、私は、特殊な直接引張試験装置の開発と、その装置を用いることにより、各種コンクリートの引張特性について研究しています。

私たちの社会では日々大量の排水や廃棄物が生じており都市の生活環境の保全のために適切な処理が求められます。一方で微生物の力を借りれば有機物が多い排水や廃棄物からメタンガスや水素ガスなどのエネルギーを作り出すことができます。そこで微生物によるエコなバイオエネルギー生産技術の開発を通して、排水・廃棄物処理分野からの温室効果ガス排出量を削減し、低炭素社会および循環型社会の実現に向けた研究を行っています。
