The purpose of this research was to verify that social support received by athletes of junior high school students, high school
students, and university students influences their feelings of adjustment and achievement motivation towards their sports activities. We
analyzed the structural equation modeling to the data acquired from a questionnaire.
The results confirmed that in all models, social support influences athletes’ feelings of adjustment to sport activities, which thereby
affects their achievement motivation. The junior high school and university students were able to confirm that guidance support
affected their feelings of adjustment and achievement motivation. The high school students were able to confirm that self-esteem
support affected their feelings of adjustment, guidance support affected their feelings of adjustment and achievement motivation.
With regard to gender difference, the high school student boy got the possibility that the guidance support influenced the feelings of
adjustment and the achievement motivation. The high school student girl got the possibility that the self-esteem support influenced
their feelings of adjustment, and the guidance support influenced the achievement motivation.
About the effect of the social support with regard to the development difference and the gender difference, the above findings
suggested the change in values into the guidance support, and the influence of the sports activities environment.
