Dear Parents and Friends,
Sub Zero
What a beautiful horse Sub Zero is. He visited Edward
School on Friday morning along with his owner and two ladies from Racing Victoria. The horse has been visiting
schools in Deniliquin as part of Racing Victoria’s education and careers information sessions. The K-Year 4 students
were fascinated by the information they learnt about horse
anatomy, diet and behaviour. Even the adults who attended learnt lots of new things, such as the size of a horses lungs,
how they can only breath through their mouth and they have a special tendon that locks their legs straight to allow
them to stand while they sleep. For a 26 year old horse Sub
Zero leads a charmed life.
Tuppal Food and Fibre Festival Stage 3 students had an interesting and fun packed day at
Tuppal Woolshed last Friday. They had the opportunity to
learn about how our food and fibre for clothing is produced and try the hands on activities available, such as milking the
‘cow’.
Over 2000 students from around the district and beyond
were in attendance, making for a busy time for all. The launch of our CMA Creative Catchment Kids Project ‘
Local Land Hero’ book was very successful. We are very proud of Shannon King, Fihar Fagiri, Hayden Kelvy and Aden
Bermingham who wrote and illustrated it, with the able assistance of Mrs Jacobs. The schools who participated in
the project have been given an electronic copy of each
school’s book to share. This will be a very valuable resource for Edward School students.
Stage 3 Canberra Excursion
The Year 5 and 6 students and teachers were waved off at a very early hour this morning, no doubt very excited. They
have a jam packed schedule of activities and visits planned
for the 4 day excursion, including visiting the War Memorial, the Mint, Cockington Green and Parliament House. The
students have had many weeks of intensive learning about Australia’s parliamentary system and are looking forward to
visiting Parliament House and meeting Susan Ley.
Island Sanctuary The Stage 1 students will be visiting Yarkuwa on Thursday
this week as part of the Wamba Wamba Perrapa Perrapa week celebrations. They will join a tour through the Island
Sanctuary to learn about native plants and their uses and engage in cultural craft activities. The visit is always
informative.
