GETTING STARTED

PREPARING FOR YOUR SCHOLARSHIP SEARCHMake sure you have a professional email created. Identify the following criteria to help you with your search: demographics, major, GPA, community involvement, financial need, educational and career goals, organization memberships (parents included), employment (parents included), skills and interests, achievements.

HOW TO USE THIS DIRECTORYThis directory is a starting place to find scholarship in which you may be eligible. Scholarships are organized by specific type. Although some scholarships may match multiple categories, each scholarship is only listed once by best fit. The organization’s main website is listed rather than a direct link to the scholarship. You will want to look under headings such as, students, programs, initiatives, foundation, education, what we do, about us, etc. to find the scholarship information. You may also search for “scholarships” or the exact name of the scholarship using the website’s search tool, if available. Only a few details have been listed for scholarship requirements; refer to the site for all criteria. You may click on each category name on the Table of Contents to jump to that section. Click on “home” at the bottom of each page to return to the first page.

LOCATING MORE SCHOLARSHIPSThere are thousands of scholarships available. We recommend that you create a profile at several search engines to locate additional scholarships that match your demographics, skills, and interests. Be sure to complete these profiles fully in order to get the best matches. Check out scholarship opportunities through the college you attend or plan to attend, businesses, community organizations, and libraries and bookstores. Local Greek organizations typically have scholarship opportunities as well. Give priority to scholarships that have a smaller applicant pool and multiple awards.

BE AWARE OF SCAMSBe careful about what information you share, especially on the Internet. Make sure your scholarships are from trusted websites and sources. Avoid pop ups for scholarship contest entries. Remember never to pay for scholarship search services and never sign up for a scholarship that promises you are guaranteed to win.

BROKEN LINKS AND DATED INFORMATIONIf any links are broken, you may perform an internet search using the name of the organization and scholarship to see if the link has been changed. Please email the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) at [email protected] to report any broken links and dated information.

SCHOLARSHIP UPDATESFollow us on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/eocmtc to receive updates on additional scholarships we find throughout the year. Write on our Facebook wall or send us an email about your scholarship search and the benefit of our directory.
