Dear Colleagues,It is a great pleasure to invite you to join us in the charming island of Favignana, from 18 to 21 of June 2015, for the upcoming European Residents in Plastic Surgery (EuRePS) Meeting. The meeting is organized by the School of Specialization in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery - University of Palermo, directed by Prof. Francesco Moschella, and promises to be a first-class educational event that focuses on the latest advances in Plastic Surgery.With its diverse mix of didactic presentations, debates, and cutting-edge abstract presentations, all participants will have the opportunity to update their knowledge in the field, confirm their current practices and receive valuable take-home information on exciting new management approaches and surgical techniques.The event is open for both Residents and Specialists from all the European Universities and more but we remind you that only Residents can be speakers. You will have the opportunity to present your scientific work to an international audience and take part to the abstract competition with important awards.Please submit abstracts choosing between the selected topic and send us your best scientific work ! Once your abstract has been accepted, you will have the chance to present your research at the Meeting. The Scientific Committee will evaluate your contribution and will select the best abstracts based on: quality of presentation, scientific method and practical relevance. The best abstract will be presented during the main sessions (oral presentations) while other abstracts will be selected for the e-poster session. The best five presentations will be published on the PAR Journal as peer-reviewed full text articles. Finally, the presenting author of the best presentation will be awarded which consists of a free registration to the EURAPS MEETING 2016.

EuRePS Meeting is an opportunity to meet, to study, to enjoy ourselves working hard!The Meeting is open to 200 participants according to the date of the registration.All the participants can be “stars” also during the meeting social life. ACCESSIBILITY - HOW TO REACH FAVIGNANABy plane: Vincenzo Florio Airport (Trapani/Birgi) Falcone-Borsellino Airport (Palermo) Charter flights and regular airlines from the principal Italian and European cities.The nearest airports are Birgi in Trapani or Falcone Borsellino in Palermo. Here there are taxis and buses; you can take them to reach Trapani and its port. ABOUT FAVIGNANA - POCKET TRAVEL GUIDEThe Egadi islands are connected with the sea which surrounds them, and touring by boat is an obvious and attractive option. It's possible to hire your own boat, or to take part in an excursion.Scuba-diving and snorkelling are popular activities around all of the Egadi Islands; the clear, clean waters are protected by a marine reserve. There are diving centres in Favignana town which organise excursions and lessons. Favignana is one of the three Egadi Islands off the coast of Sicily. It is a peaceful town where the locals go out of their way to welcome the tourists who come to enjoy the unique beaches. The history of Favignana brings Italian, Arabian and Spanish influence together in one place. The resulting culture is delightfully unique, and the different influences on food and architecture can be identified readily. It is an important stop for many ships travelling around the Mediterranean. The main town of the island, indeed of the archipelago, is built around a small port that nestles in a large bay. The little town centres around two squares: Piazza Europa and Piazza Matrice which are linked by the main street, where in the evenings it is nice to walk. The island's tuna-fishing heritage is frequently visible in the town, from the tuna products in shops to the town's buildings, the tuna fisheries. The large complex of the Ex Stabilimento Florio delle Tonnare di Favignana e di Formica hosts a cultural and conference centre.Favignana is an ideal place to go cycling. The distances on it are small enough that walking is a possible way of seeing the island, though a bicycle is definitely more fun and more efficient on the long, flat stretches of road. There are many competing shops at the port and in town offering bicycle rental at cheap prices. Get hold of a simple map, or follow the coastline, and you can sail along empty roads, and bump along scenic tracks to discover the remoter parts of the island and reach secluded coves. Within the eastern half of the island, within half a day you can visit dramatic tufa quarries, several beaches and rocky coves, the bizarre excavated landscape caused by tufa quarrying and a picturesque fishermen's hamlet. It's also possible to join guided tours by bike.The best walking excursion from Favignana town - and the most obvious - is up to the castle dominating the island's hill.

The route is straightforward - past the beach and out along a straight road from town, then zig-zagging up a paved stepped path. It is quite a climb, but nevertheless a popular outing in the late afternoon, once the heat of the day has passed. The castle, called the Forte di Santa Caterina dated from Norman times, and extended under the Spanish in the seventeenth century, the fortress is in a breath taking location. The views from up here, on the ridge separating the island's two halves, are worth the walk alone.Bathing and beaches – There are two main beaches: a small sandy bay south of the town in Cala Azzurra, and, still in the southern part but a little west of this, lies the broad beach called the Lido Burrone (there is a bus service). The rocky bays are more exciting and thrilling, notably Cala Rossa and Cala del Bue Marino nearby. What makes these spots especially unusual is the fact that they were once tufa quarries; deep in the grottoes where the roof has not fallen in, tunnel a network of long dark and mysterious passages that can be explored by torchlight. The other half of the island harbours such lovely bays as the Cala Rotonda, Cala Grande and Punta Ferro, which doubles as a popular area for diving.The caves: The west side of the mountain slopes down into the sea, forming a number of evocative caves and grottoes. Each summer morning, when the sea is calm, the local fishermen organize visits to see the most picturesque: Grotta Azzurra (so-called because of the colour of the water), Grotta dei Sospiri (the Grotto of Sighs which sounds its laments in winter), and Grotta degli Innamorati (Lovers’ Grotto), so named because of two identical rocks standing side by side.THINGS WORTH REMEMBERING IN FAVIGNANAWhere is Favignana? WHY WE LOVE FAVIGNANAWe have seen many sunsets while traveling throughout Italy, but none compare to the scenes we have witnessed in Favignana. If you sit atop Mount Santa Catarina you can have the best view of the setting sun. The sun dipped behind Marettimo, adding bright reds and oranges to the already beautiful landscape. Our photos will never do justice to the surreal beauty of that sunset and there are so many other wonderful things to do, see, taste and smell. Your trip off the coast of Sicily will have everything you can look for in a vacation.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET AROUND THE ISLAND OF FAVIGNANA?Favignana is not that large, and you have several options when it comes to getting around the island. Most people will choose to walk short distances to the beach or to a local restaurant. If you are going a bit farther away from your lodging, bicycles are availa-ble for rent as well. Buses are also available in Favignana, but they run on a schedule that tourists may need some help to navigate. Schedules are available online for the Tarantola buses that run throughout the island.A tip: Consider renting a scooter to see the island in style. The entire island is accessible via scooter, so there’s no telling what you will find by exploring on your own.

THINGS TO DO IN FAVIGNANA Among the many things that you can do in Favignana, there are some that you can do more than others! We propose a short list:

- Dive in the clear waters of Cala Rossa, in a unique natural setting. - Visit the caves in the company of local fishermen. - Take part in an adventurous hike fishing tourism or charter fishing, experimenting with all techniques. - Scuba diving among wrecks and shallows and at least make a dive in the wonderful shallow called Taurus. - Watch the sunset from Punta Sottile, watching the sun dying beyond the lighthouse. - Admire the view from the Castle of St. Catherine, the highest point of Favignana, with wonderful views of the entire archipelago. - Visit the museum of the Florio. - Visit the old clay caves and the Hypogeum Gardens which are well cultivated. - Walking between the two Squares in the village and the small port, to the waterfront with the beautiful view of Levanzo. - Taste the local delicatessen very early in the morning in one of the many bakeries in the island. - Watch the spectacular sunrise from Punta Lunga. - Talk to the tuna fishermen and listen stories about Tunas and their Mattanza (fishing) in Favignana. - Snorkelling in the waters of Preveto, characterized by rich in life sea bottoms. - Enjoy Frascatole, couscous and pasta with lobster in one of the typical restaurants. - Making a Happy Hour in a boat at sunset. - Enjoy the sun lying on the shore of Cala Azzurra. - Diving from Bue Marino or Scalo Cavallo or, if more experienced, from Punta Fanfalo. - Enjoy Sicilian Sweets (cassatine, cassatelle and cannoli) in a pastry shop. - Participate in one of the beach parties that are organized in the summer. - Go to the typical fish market organized by local fishermen early in the morning and buy the excellent fresh fish. - Taste the Egadi Lobster, characterized by an extremely delicate flavour. - Enjoy all the preparations of tuna and swordfish. - Visit the Malacological Museum and admire the many shells. - Take some wonderful photos to all the breathtaking landscapes of the island. - Enjoy an ice cream or one of the many sorbets (Granita) observing the view from the waterfront. - Visit the archaeological area of San Nicola. - Take a long walk or climb Mount St. Catherine in the back of a donkey.- Take a scenic bike along the coast also discovering the most secluded and secret coves in the island. - Buy one of the many handmade souvenirs or paintings. - Bring home the typical products of tuna. - Buy one of the small sculptures in tuff made by local artists.

Cala Rossa, FavignanaAlong with the neighbouring Cala del Bue Marino, this is one of the rocky inlets attracting the most summer visitors. Within easy reach are the quarries where tufa is extracted, which form long mysterious corridors that can be explored with an electric torch.

Cala Azzurra, FavignanaThis is one of Favignana's main beaches... the other one being the more spread-out Lido Burrone in the southern part of the town.

Bue Marino, FavignanaThe area of the Bue Marino is characterised by the striking architecture of the tuff quarries, which gives a very particular aspect to this cliff. It is one of the most beautiful corners in the seaside resort of Favignana, with gorgeous and deep sea bottom. It is ideal for those who love diving, scuba diving and snorkeling but especially for swimmers.

Caves, FavignanaThe west side of the mountain has fabulous caves: the Grotta Azzurra named after its intense blue water, the Grotta dei Sospiri which rings out its "sighs" in winter and the Grotta degli Innamorati, whose "lovers" are wrapped around each other against the back wall of the cave.

Grotta del Genovese, LevanzoDiscovered in 1949, this cave contains etchings and rock art dating back to the late Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods. The imagery includes bisons and a very beautiful stag in perspective, with harmonious proportions. The paintings confirm that fishing is an extremely ancient activity on the island, since tuna fish and dolphins can be seen.www.grottadelgenovese.it

Dogana, Levanzo This unique residential area of the Levanzo island, the Cala Dogana, is made up of white cubic houses set out in tiered rows in the indent of an inlet bathed in crystalline water. A path departing from the village takes you to the inlets of the Southwest coast up as far as a rock called the Faraglione. There you will find charming pebbled beaches.

MarettimoMarettimo is the wildest of the Aegadian Islands; it consists of little more than a small port, with a cluster of little white square houses huddled at foot of the mountain. Take a boat tour around the island to discover the magnificent caves in the bottom of the steep cliffs: Grotta del Cammello, at the end of a small gravel beach, Grotta del Tuono, Grotta Perciata and especially Grotta del Presepio, so named because the rocks have been eroded by the water and wind in such a way as to resemble a nativity scene.
