6. Discussion/Sharing/Decisions

a. The meeting with the interns and mentor principals tomorrow: agenda and room assignments. We have four additional classrooms; the FSs are divided into smaller groups based on their number of interns. . We reviewed the agenda for the meeting. Michael suggested adding a hard copy of the experience planning document

b. Please bring a typical agenda you use with your interns throughout the year. Jim, Ethelda and Lee shared documents which they have found helpful. Lee is developing a document which will help interns stay on track with their assignments. She will send this document to everyone this week.

c. October meeting date change? Please note the new meeting dates on the prior page of these minutes. d. Distribution of thumb drives and business cards. Everyone has a set of UWT business cards as well as a thumb drive with all

the pertinent (non-hyperlinked) documents. e. Distribution of Pack Forest writing assignments from interns. Each FS received the writing work their interns completed

during the June retreat. f. Everyday Antiracism sign-up this year? We discussed the possibility of reading other essays from this book. Another book

was proposed, Excellence through Equity, Five Principals of Courageous Leadership to Guide Achievement for Every Student (Alan Blankstein and Pedro Noguera, 2016), along with other titles (Moral Leadership, What Great Principals Do, and Servant Leadership). Mary will request nine copies of the Excellence through Equity book through the College of Education office.

g. Want a new UW name tag? Please contact Donna Braboy, and she will order one for you! h. Anything else? Other topics included:

The school tour assignment. This document, sent to the FS group and available to the interns on the Canvas website, will be due to the FS within the next few weeks, at your convenience. A three-page reflection may be required by you. The interns will hear about this assignment on their next Saturday meeting (August 27).

Course syllabi. Mary will ask each course instructor to send out the syllabi each quarter.

CPT 5.1, 5.3 and 5.5. These three writing assignments have been completed by the interns; please ask to read them soon. Writing skills are an area of needed improvement for nearly all the interns.
