Principal’s Report-Term3

Happy Education Week!

This week all public schools will be celebrating

Education Week – a week where we showcase the

amazing opportunities provided by public schools and

to acknowledge the wonderful work done within them.

At Junee North we continue to strive to ensure our

students are exposed to a wide and varied curriculum.

It is our purpose to prepare them to be life-long

learners, critical thinkers and problem solvers, globally

aware and respectful, responsible citizens.

We trust that those family members who were able to

join us for our Open Day, enjoyed their visit and gained

a further insight into their child’s learning.

We have a huge bumper (colour!) issue of the

newsletter for all of our families to celebrate!

Semester 2 SRC

Congratulations to the following students who have

been elected as the Student Representative Councillors

for their class:

K Red: Poppy Asmus & Trae Clarke

K Blue: Samantha Huckin & Tyson Mudge

Stage 1 Red: Milla Lewis & Milton Butt

Stage 1 Green: Tylah McAuliffe & Thomas Gallop

Stage 2 Blue: Ryhs Seery & Emily Edson

Stage 2 Green: Miah Robertson & Brayden Hewson-

Buckby

Stage 3 Yellow: Luke Moon & Torah Newman

Stage 3 Blue: Aimee White & Matthew Boyton

Early arrivals/ late departures

School hours for our students are from 9:20 – 3:20.

Teachers commence morning playground duty at 8:50

am. We continue to have some students arriving at

8:30 (and earlier!) – often with no teachers on site.

Frequently we also have parents collecting their

children prior to 3:20 with no valid reason. Whilst we

understand there are parking limitations around our

school, the learning of the children continues until

3:20. Children leaving early are missing vital learning if

this becomes a habit.

We would appreciate parent support in these matters.

Cyber Safety Talk

A police representative will visit the school on Mon 13

Aug to speak with all Stage 3 students on the

importance of cyber safety. There is an app that is

available to stop online gaming (fortnite) late into

night or other social media apps when timed out:

https://meetcircle.com/circle/

Lunches

Many students are turning up to school regularly

without food for the day which greatly affects the way

they function and learn for the day. We can cater for

the occasional emergency but it is vital that students

are provided with the right amount of food for the day.

Please assist us with this concern by checking that your

child has packed their food for the day.

What’s happening in our school?

Technology – STEM in the

classrooms

TODAY’S SCHOOLS – CREATING

TOMORROW’S WORLD !

DESIGNING, CREATING,

PROBLEM SOLVING &

TEAM WORK !

We had to design a digital accessory in STEM (Science,

Technology, Engineering & Maths) using only lego.

Our problem was to prevent people from putting their

phones into their pockets, then into the washing

machine. So we decided to build a machine to help

with this problem. Our machine called the iphone

detector will make sure that your phone does not go

through the wash. The iphone detector uses the smell

that the iphone will give off to alert you if there ia a

phone in the washing machine. If there is a phone in

the machine the detector will rattle. – Ben & Elizabeth.

In Stage 3 Blue we have been doing STEM-(Science,

Technology, Engineering & Maths). We had to design

and create a digital accessory to help in everyday life.

Our problem was to stop people putting strain on their

necks when using their mobile phones. Ruby and I

created a phone holder for people who may be too

busy or lazy to hold their phones at their desks while

working. We named our creation - THE RED HOLDER

BOOK WEEK FUN!

Tuesday 21 AUGUST

Come & join us for our annual Book Week celebration!

WHEN? Tuesday 21 August 2018

WHAT’S ON?

Book Fair in the Library – all day. Parents & children have the

opportunity to view & purchase great quality books. Children will bring

home a list of the books, with their prices that they are interested in

purchasing. Books will only be available for purchase on Tuesday. If you are

unable to make it on Tuesday a great idea would be to send the

appropriate money in a marked envelope with your child’s name and the

titles they wish to purchase. The Book Fair works on a commission basis.

The more books we sell, the more books we will be able to purchase for

our Library. Donations of purchased books are most welcome. Library open

all day for purchases.

Shared Reading Time @ 1:30 – bring along your blanket & favourite

stories to share (teddy bears are most welcome!). Hopefully we can read

outdoors if the weather is sunny!

1:50 – Afternoon Tea – bring along a healthy snack to share with your

family.

2:20 – Book Character Parade under the COLA. Children, toddlers (&

parents!) are welcome to dress up as their favourite book character.
