JAZZ IN SESSION

OPEN SOUND CHECKS

A sound check is the time allowed for technicians, instrumentalists, and vocalists to fine tune the details of their performance. Open Sound Checks at SFJAZZ are a special, behind-the-scenes opportunity for schools and community groups to witness the critical preparation that goes into making the performance a success. Select Open Sound Checks are more hands-on and interactive in nature.

Since 1983, SFJAZZ has reached out to youth with in-school performances and interactive programs. From field trips to our unique SFJAZZ Center Auditorium, to hands on learning

in their very own classrooms, our School Programs give students access to jazz’s rich and critical history.
