EDUARD: NEWS IN JANUARY January 1st, 2004

New year is here, which is traditionally the right time for the general information about all yearschedule. Because the new kits are always most frequent question, lets look on them first.

NEW KITS IN 2004

1/144We do new kits in this scale really occasionally, but the first quarter of this year is the right occasion forsuch fresh new. Which is Ju 87 Stuka family. We are going to release all together four 1/144 scaleStukas, Ju 87 B, R, D and G.

1/72We’ll continue in this scale with La-7 in early 2004 and continue with Mig-15 family in late this year.La-7 is a very close release, we are just matching the final detail and we expect the first version will bereleased in February. So that, February newsletter will bring more about this one, now I have to say,that three kits will be released. The first one is standard La-7 equipped with two 20 mm guns, thesecond release will be heavily weaponed three gun version, and the third one is the ProfiPACK, withmix of both version.

Mig-15 is one of the large projects, prepared for second half of the year. It’s more complicated projectthan it should look, because we are going to release three basic version, Mig-15, then Mig-15 andfinally UTI Mig-15, which is the training version. I guess our kits will be first 1/72nd Mig15 kits, respectall differences between Mig-15 and Mig-15bis. And, which is not so important like interesting, our UTIMig-15 will be the first kit of the UTI Mig-15 released after 20 years, since KP released their kit in early80’s.

1/481/48th scale is our main scale, it was already said so many times…Right now we work hard to finishour biggest project still realized in our company, 1/48th scale Mirage IIIC. We keep the engeneeringstyle used on Airacobra or Bf 108, with fine details especially in wheel bays and cockpit. Mirage has

good set of weapon, with big Matra 530 missile and pair of Sidewinters or alternative Matras, as wellas set of the alternative underwing tanks. The kit will contain the nose weight, canopy mask and smallset of color photoetch in basic version, and the usual big PE set in ProfiPACK. Three version will bereleased this year, Mirage IIIC, Mirage III CJ and ProfiPACK with both versions inside. The newproject for 2004 is the ROYAL CLASS line, which is the strictly limited edition of the really highlyequipped kits. We are going to release two kits in this line in 2004 only, the Mirage and the 1/35th scaleHetzer.

Although Mirage is spending a lot of our tooling capacity and will take most of our capacity in the firstquarter, we work on the other projects too. For the second half of the year, we have a couple of theinteresting news for WW I fans. We already talk about most of them, so just short recapitulation. Thefirst WW I project this year is Sopwith Camel 2F.1, expected in March. For Summer and Autumn weprepare new Morane N (new tooling), Fokker E.III (new tooling) and DH-2. For the very late 2004 wehave two projects, Fokker D.VII and the Bristol Fighter. Especially Bristol Fighter seems to be verynice project, with plenty of the small parts and interior as well as exterior details. Both these late 2004releases, Fokker D.VII and the Bristol Fighter, are engineered with 3D tooling, as well as the Camel orMirage kits.

Bristol Fighter

The latest 1/48th scale release what we expect in 2004 is the only WW II fighter in our 2004 collection,Policarpov I-16. We are going to release four different versions, the first one is I-16 type 10, followingwith I-16 type 17. Type 18 and 24 will follow in 2005.

1/35Jagdpanzer Hetzer was chosen as our first 1/35th scale kit. We had a couple of reasons to decide forthis subject. First, we guess the really good Hetzer is missing on the market. The second reason is,

that we want have a complete equipped kit, with interior and engine inside. Hetzer was a good choice,as this is an original Czech tank, and we have a of original documentation. Many Hetzers are inmuseums around, so that we had a good chance to check everything, what should be unclear duringthe design process. So now we are sure we have correct, exact and well detailed kit. We expect torelease the first Hetzer in early Autumn, in two basic versions – early and late, with ProfiPACK for bothof them. The difference will be that the standard kit will be released without interior and engine detail,and the ProfiPACK will contains the complete interior, engine, and more photoetched parts as well asthe metal gun barrel. Also, the limited 1000 of the ROYAL CLASS Hetzers will be available shortlybefore the standard marked version will be released. The ROYAL CLASS will contain all parts for bothversions, large photoetched set, some extra accessories and an extra art. This kit will be released instrictly limited edition, each one with own serial number. The orders for ROYAL CLASS kits will beregistered three months before kit release.

1/162004 is year of vehicles for us. Except Hetzer, there is the second release, 1/16th scaleSchwimmwagen. Small car, big kit. 1/16th scale is a fashion now, but we trust this kit will be aninteresting choice.

FIGURES 1/72 & 1/48We’ll continue with figures sets, we would like to release at least six new sets this year. 1/48th scaleGerman WW I personnel is the first one, RAF WW II, US Navy WW II, IJN WW II and Soviet VVS WWII personels will follow during the year.

EXTRATECH & GAVIA IN 2004Extratech is going to release Sherman tank family in 1/72nd scale. These kits are released incooperation with EDUARD, and Eduard will keep some of Shermans to release them in EDUARD line.

The Extratech releases are: M4 Sherman early version, M4A3 Jumbo, Firefly Mk.I .... The Eduardreleases will be M4 Sherman late, M4A3 76 mm W, M4A3 105 mm.

Gavia is going to release 1/48th scale Pfalz E.I in early this year, and Nieuport 10 in late this year.

E-DAY 2004E-day this year is traditionally scheduled on third September’s weekend. The new is that E-day isconnected with Czech national championship. We trust it will be again more interesting than thesethree E-days in the past.

SPAD XIII ProfiPACK

NEW KITS IN JANUARY: Ki-115 TSURUGI & SPAD XIII ProfiPACKWell, now just a couple of words about January releases. Ki-115 is here, we announced it already inDecember. Tsurigi is in act first 3D tooling kit in Eduard line. We had this kit as a system test, wherewe prepared new technics for Mirage project. Nevertheless, Tsurugi is nice kit, with excellent fitting.And, what more, its very easy to build. When you want something to relax, something to finish it duringweekend, choose Tsurugi.SPAD XIII ProfiPACK brings out the usual improvements, photoetch sheet and more decal options.These are six in this one, two for French aircraft, two for US ones, one is Czech and one Italian.

PHOTOETCH IN JANUARYThere are many new PE sets, as usual. Check the group of the 1/24th scale releases, where you canfind two racing cars seatbelts sets and two aircraft seatbelts sets, all of them colored, of course. An

interesting item is the set for Wildcat in 1/32nd scale. Also, we have two important sets for 1/72nd scaleaircraft this moth. Two sets are for the B-25J (Hasegawa), two for the new SM-79 of Italeri.
