To cut out the photograph I began by clicking the ‘Quick Selection Tool’. In order to cut out a photo you must go around the outline of the picture you are using. You can see here that it cut off some of the models hair. However, this can be fixed by using the ‘Mask Edge Tool’. The next thing I had to do was press ‘Invert’ and then the following button. This cut out the image of my model and removed the background.

Here is the image after it was inverted. As you can see the image is extremely choppy on the edges and looks as if parts have been cut out. This can be tampered with to return it to its natural state.

By clicking the ‘Mask Edge’ button a window named ‘Refine Mask’ comes up. This allowed me to feather, contrast, smoothen and change the smart radius on the photograph, meaning it would not look so choppy.

Here we can see that by tampering with the smoothness, the radius and shift edging the image that I was able to bring back the models hair that had been cut out when using the ‘Quick Selection Tool’.
