Editing my images – Being creative – Technology used

Page 2: Editing my images

Editing my imagesI edited my images in two different forms of software. As I had used Photoshop before I felt comfortable in being able to edit my images well that would be used for my poster. As well as using Photoshop I also used Pixlr Express, this enabled me to use high quality effects that would make my images look as effective on my poster. Although I was comfortable when using Photoshop I felt that the tools I was able to use and the editing effects that were available on Pixlr were much more advanced and useful. Both pictures were edited using Pixlr although the picture to the left was edited first on Photoshop.

Whilst using Pixlr as said before I used the express version. Which looked like the picture to the right once I had opened my image. I used a variety of different effects, mainly using the focal tool, as I wanted to focus on the eye and the face of the character on both images being able to lose less focus on the background made the image stand out a lot more. The vibrance and contrast sections were used on the images as well to create a darker effect behind the character but lighten up the main image. Also only on the image on the right I airbrushed the characters forehead. This was because of lose hairs from her head and it took the intensity of these being seen and softened it.

When editing my images I was creative in the sense that the angles that the pictures were taken in were unique and the way the character was positioned wasn’t in an obvious way. I was also creative by editing the left image first on Photoshop so I could get some effects of there, for this I used the colour balance this enabled the character to look and auburn yellow colour which I then edited again on Pixlr. Making my images still look realistic was done by using the Pixlr Express editing.

• My final images that I have used using both Photoshop and Pixlr are above. I have tried to be creative during the use of this software by taking advantage of the different tools that were available and using the express version of Pixlr. By mixing up the colour balance and changing the contrast enabled me to be creative and try out different effects on the image. Trying to stick to the horror genre having the images darkened and bright in different areas allowed the image to still create this feeling and in some what come across as scary. For the image used on my poster, editing it first on Photoshop was a big advantage because I was able to make the image look old and more dirty colours, moving then on to edit it in Pixlr the more professional tools like airbrushing and focal were available to make the images look more effective.
