Orthodox Prayer Book for Children

{Editable Version}

How to Order the Pages:Treat each page as having columns where you would go down and then back up to the right corner and back down.

So, on the printed first page, the Icon of the Resurrection would be the very first page of the book. Then the words In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. and then the icon of the Theotokos and the Christ Child.

Follow this throughout.

In our home, we made a prayer book for each child and included an icon of his/her patron saint on the cover.

It would also be nice to include a prayer to the patron or the trisagion or kontakion.

Let me know if you have any [email protected] OR

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen

O Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me. Glory to Thee.

O Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, Who art everywhere present and fillest all things, Treasury of blessingand Giver of Life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from every impurity, and save our souls, O Good One.

O angel of God, protect me, and guard me, and pray to the Lord for me.

O Theotokos and Virgin, rejoice, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, for thou hast borne the Savior of our souls.

Help me, O Lord, to be brave today, and to trust that you are taking care of me. Teach me, and guide me. Help me to be peace loving, and not to make anyone sad or angry. If anything scary or sad happens today, help me to know that You love me and will help me and my family. Help me to want to be good, to love to pray, to be faithful, and to forgive anyone who has hurt my feelings. Amen

In Times of Trouble

Help me, Lord Jesus, Have mercy on me, comfort me, and chase away my scary thoughts. Help me to pray, to think only of you, and to rest. For you are my Savior and I will always trust in You.

O Lord, Jesus Christ, help other children whoare afraid. Have mercy on them and comfort them. Help them to be brave, and strong; to trust in you, and be at peace.

Thank you, God, for loving me so much. You will always make me glad. Thank you forgiving me my family. You will always keep me safe.

O Lord, Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, have mercy on me, and forgive my sins.

It is truly meet to bless thee, the Theotokos, ever-blessed and most pureand Mother of our God.

More honorable than the Cherubim, and more glorious beyond compare than the Seraphim, without corruption thou gavest birth to God the Word,true Theotokos,we magnify thee

Child's Prayer

Heavenly Father, bless my parents and all those who love and care for me. Help me to be respectful and obedient, according to Thy will .

Send down upon me Thy grace to perform all my duties carefully and faithfully,and to resist all temptation that may come my way. Help me Lord to live a good and godly life, praising Thee and glorifying Thy Holy Name. Amen.

Thou who at every season and every hour, in heaven and on earth, art worshipped and glorified; O Christ our God, who art long-suffering, merciful and compassionate; who lovest the just and showest mercy upon the sinner; who callest all to salvation through the promise of blessings to come: O Lord, in this hour receive our supplications, and direct our lives according to Thy commandments. Sanctify our souls, hallow our bodies, correct our thoughts, cleanse our minds; deliver us from all tribulations, evil and distress. Compass us about with Thy holy Angels, that guided and guarded by them, we may attain to the unity of the faith and to the knowledge of Thine unapproachable glory, for Thou art blessed unto ages of ages. Amen.

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven
and earth, and of all things
visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten, begotten of the Father before all ages; Light of Light: true God of true God; begotten, not made; of one essence with the Father, by Whom all things were made; Who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man; And was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried;

And arose again on the third day according to the Scriptures; And ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father; And shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead; Whose kingdom shall have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord,
the Giver of Life; Who proceeds from the Father; Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; Who spake by the prophets.In One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the remission of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead, And the life of the age to come. Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy Kingdom come;
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

Ten Commandments

I am the Lord Thy God, thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

Thou shalt not make for thee any graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; thou shalt not bow down to them, nor serve them.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days thou shalt labor and do all thy work, but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God.

Honor thy father and thy mother, that it may be well with thee, and that thy days may be long upon the earth.

Thou shalt not murder.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Thou shalt not steal.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife; thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, nor his field ... nor anything that is thy neighbor's.
