JAKARTA — Officials say thou-sands of people from 50 countries have set two new world records by parading with more than 3,700 flam-ing torches in Indonesia’s capital.

Organizer Yamal Hasmanan of Freedom Faithnet Global said Sunday that officials from Guinness World Records presented participants with

certificates for the largest torch-lit image formed by people and for the largest torch-lit parade.

He says his group organized Sat-urday’s 3,777-torch procession as a symbol of hope and prayer.

The group is also holder of a Guin-ness record for the largest number of floating lanterns sent aloft, with 10,318 launched into the sky simul-taneously in December 2009.

There were no immediate reports of se-vere damage or injuries in Mexico City but emergency services said an 18-year-old man was killed when a roof collapsed in Iguala, a small city between the capital and the tourist resort of Acapulco.

A 25-year-old man was killed when a rock fell on a small van on the Mexico

City-Acapulco highway, a spokesman for emergency services in southwestern Guer-rero state said.

“I was dreadfully afraid, I thought it was never going to end,” said Laura Gonzalez, who was drinking in a bar in the capital at the time of the quake, which lasted 40 seconds.

Potesters waved banners such as “The rats should go!” and “Swin-dlers and thieves - give us our elec-tions back!” in cities from the Pa-cific port of Vladivostok in the east to Kaliningrad in the west, nearly 7,400 km (4,600 miles) away.

But the biggest protest by far was in Moscow, where riot police were out in force but just watched as protesters waving flags and shout-ing “Putin is a thief!” staged the opposition’s biggest protest rally since the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.

The protests showed a ground-swell of anger over the December 4 election, which the opposition says was rigged to favor Putin’s United Russia, and discontent with the prime minister three months before he tries to reclaim the presidency at the polls.

“Today 60,000, maybe 100,000 people, have come to this rally,” former prime minister Mikhail Kasyanov said in a speech to a huge crowd packed into Bolotnaya Square across the Moscow River from the Kremlin.

“This means today is the begin-ning of the end for these thieving authorities,” said Kasyanov, who now leads an opposition move-ment which was barred from the election.

People of all ages gathered in Moscow, many carrying white carnations as the symbol of their protest and some waving pictures of Putin and President Dmitry Medvedev declaring: “Guys, it’s time to go.” Helicopters at times buzzed overhead.

Vladimir Ryzhkov, an opposition leader, read out a list of demands including annulling the election and holding a new one, registering opposition parties, dismissing the election commission head and free-ing people the protesters consider political prisoners.

OSLO, Norway — Three women who fought injustice, dictatorship and sexual violence in Liberia and Yemen accepted the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize on Saturday, calling on repressed women worldwide to rise up against male supremacy.

“My sisters, my daughters, my friends — find your voice,” Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said after collecting her Nobel diploma and medal at a ceremony in Oslo.

Sirleaf, Africa’s first democratically elected female president, shared the award with women’s rights campaigner Leymah Gbowee, also from Liberia, and Tawakkul Karman, a female icon of the protest movement in Yemen.

The peace prize was announced in October, along with the Nobel awards for medicine, physics, chemistry, literature and economics. Worth 10 million kronor ($1.5 million) each, the Nobel Prizes are always handed out on the anniversary of award founder Alfred Nobel’s death on Dec. 10, 1896.

By selecting Karman, the prize committee recognized the Arab Spring movement that has toppled autocratic leaders in North Africa and the Middle East. Praising Karman’s struggle against Yemen’s regime, Nobel committee chairman Thorbjoern Jagland also sent a message to Syria’s leader Bashar Assad, whose crackdown on rebels has killed more than 4,000 people according to U.N. estimates.

“President Assad in Syria will not be able to resist the people’s demand for freedom of human rights,” Jagland said.

DURBAN, South Africa — A U.N. climate conference reached a hard-fought agreement Sunday on a far-reaching program meant to set a new course for the global fight against climate change.

The 194-party conference agreed to start negotiations on a new accord that would ensure that countries will be legally bound to carry out any pledges they make. It would take effect by 2020 at the latest.

The deal doesn’t explicitly com-pel any nation to take on emissions targets, although most emerging economies have volunteered to curb the growth of their emissions.

Currently, only industrial coun-tries have legally binding emissions targets under the 1997 Kyoto Pro-

tocol. Those commitments expire next year, but they will be extended for at least another five years under the accord adopted Sunday — a key demand by developing coun-tries seeking to preserve the only existing treaty regulating carbon emissions.

The proposed Durban Platform offered answers to problems that have bedeviled global warming negotiations for years about sharing the responsibility for controlling carbon emissions and helping the world’s poorest and most climate-vulnerable nations cope with chang-ing forces of nature.

The United States was a reluctant supporter, concerned about agree-ing to join an international climate system that likely would find much opposition in the U.S. Congress.

“This is a very significant pack-age. None of us likes everything in it. Believe me, there is plenty the United States is not thrilled about,” said U.S. climate envoy Todd Stern. But the package captured important advances that would be undone if it is rejected, he told the delegates.

Sunday’s deal also set up the bodies that will collect, govern and distribute tens of billions of dollars a year for poor countries. Other documents in the package lay out rules for monitoring and verifying emissions reductions, protecting forests, transferring clean technolo-gies to developing countries and scores of technical issues.

U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said the deal represents “an important advance in our work on climate change.”

When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines.

In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbul-umbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. MEDAN - Indonesia`s coffee production next year is projected to be lower than this year at only around 600,000 tons due to the climate factor, an industry spokes-man said.

“Production will be lower as rain is continuing to fall until the end of this year disrupting fertilization and this will cause exports to drop,” the

general chairperson of the Associa-tion of Indonesian Coffee Exporters (AEKI), Suyanto Hiusein, said here on Saturday.

National coffee production next year is projected to be around 600,000 tons or lower than this year which also misses the target set at 640,000 tons.

The drop in the production is believed to also affect exports more-over demand would also be lower

due to the impact of current crisis in the US and Europe.

If the volume of exports remains high it is strongly believed they are of lower quality and therefore cheaper, he said.

“For the high quality product it is also believed its price will also be under pressure due to the impact of the crisis,” he said.

He said actually the pressure on price and volume had begun since

several months ago and continued until the end of this year.

Although exports are down total trade is seen to rise this year because trade was good before, he said.

According to data from the International Coffee Organization (ICO) Indonesia`s coffee exports from November 1, 2010 to October 21, 2011 reached 6.05 million bags or 363,411 tons.

The volume is up 2.72 percent

from the previous period recorded at 5.89 bags or 353,659 tons.

North Sumatra coffee exporter Saidul Alam said if coffee produc-tion drops next year the local price may remain strong.

“If the local price remains strong it will increase exporters` problems while buyers are hoping the price will be down due to weakening buying power as a result of current global crisis,” he said.

Suyanto said the news was re-ceived by the foreign minister from the Indonesian ambassador to Thai-land. Nunun was taken from Bang-kok to Jakarta by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), according to information from the foreign minister.

Nurbaeti was taken straight to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) office on Saturday night shortly after arriving from Thailand where she was arrested.

Nunun arrived at the KPK office guarded by tens of security officers while tens of policeman and journal-ists had already come to the location before her.

She is to be taken to the Pon-

dok Bambu jail after being ques-tioned at the Corruption Eradication Commission`s (KPK) office.

“She will be taken there after finishing a health check and early questioning session with KPK staff,” Deputy Chief of KPK Chandra Hamzah said here on Saturday at a press conference.

Nunun arrived at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of-fice in Jakarta on Saturday at 18.20 local time after being deported from Thailand. Chandra said Nunun was arrested by Thai police on Wednes-day (Dec 7). Having received the information, he said, a small team from KPK including himself left for Bangkok on Thursday (Dec 8)

to check the information. After matching data between the

two sides, he said, Thai police on Dec 10 took Nunun to meet the KPK team on board a Garuda Indonesia plane parked at Swarnabhumi airport.

“That`s when we first met her. We explained to her about the arrest and she signed the arrest letter,” he said adding that extradition to Indonesia was conducted on Saturday noon at 14.30 local time

Nunun was some time ago de-clared a suspect in the case of a number of parliamentarians who had accepted bribes in connection with the election of Miranda Gultom as Bank Indonesia (BI or central bank) senior deputy governor in 2004.

The KPK declared her a suspect while she was abroad where she was said to be staying for treatment of an illness. In its efforts to capture Nunun, the KPK through the Na-tional Police eventually sought the assistance of interpol.

JAKARTA - Indonesia has threatened to cut data services used by millions of BlackBerry customers, the industry body said Saturday, in an ongoing spat over infrastructure and government access to information.

The industry regulator said it would block internet services to the smartphones in the biggest market for Research In Motion (RIM) -- which makes the BlackBerry -- outside North America if RIM did not comply with its demands.

Canada-based RIM had agreed in January to fulfil four re-quests made by the communications and information technology ministry.

“RIM is supposed to have a licence to provide internet services, and the government will only grant them one when they have fulfilled all four requests.

“If they don’t, we’ll have to cut their data services,” the com-missioner of the Indonesian Telecommunication Regulatory Body, Heru Sutadi, told AFP.

The requests included setting up an aggregator that would ef-fectively reduce costs for local service providers, but authorities claimed Saturday RIM had rolled back on that commitment.

“We had a meeting with RIM on Thursday to talk about prog-ress since January. They have fulfilled some requests, but we are disappointed they have not agreed to establish an aggregator in Indonesia,” Sutadi said.

The government also requested that RIM set up customer care centres, block pornography from its service, and assist the government in accessing encrypted data on users’ phones.

RIM said, however, that it has addressed all the requests and that it is looking at new multimillion-dollar investments in Indonesia.

It has set up a router in Singapore to which some Indonesian carriers have connected, and said that this fulfilled the govern-ment’s aggregator request as it had only asked for a centre in the region.

The firm said it was receiving “mixed messages”. “We have never been formally asked to build a centre in Indonesia,” RIM’s East Asia managing director Gregory Wade told AFP.

Sutadi said the industry body was concerned by the state of play on government access to encrypted data.

“RIM told us they were working with law enforcement agen-cies to ensure they can access the information, but they could not tell us who exactly they were working with,” Sutadi said.

Indonesia is RIM’s biggest market outside North America, with shipments of BlackBerry smartphones expected to surpass nine million units by the year end.

The government’s threats come just two weeks after a Black-Berry promotional event turned disastrous.

More than 40 people were injured and 20 were knocked un-conscious or fainted in a crush when thousands rushed toward a shopping mall hoping to get their hands on one of 1,000 new BlackBerry Bold 9790 model going at half price.

Police named RIM’s country president-director Andrew Cob-ham and consultant Terry Burkey as suspects in the case.

As a part of Bali Barat National Park, Menjan-gan Island is well known for its magnificent under-water world, beautiful coral reefs found nearby and the best site for fishing. Another attraction of the island is protected deer. Menjangan, an inhibited island about 10 km offshore, offers deep coral reef walls and is one of Bali’s best diving sites.

There are a few dive sites to choose from at Menjangan with good conditions and excellent visibility. It’s also an interesting site for snorkel-ing. Menjangan also has a wreck , known as the ‘Anker’ because of its heavily encrusted anchor at the top of the reef. Fixed moorings have been built to prevent damag, and the island is reached by a 30 minutes boat ride from Labuan Lalang.

The International Monetary Fund can-not be expected to step in as a substitutefor a stronger commitment by Europe whichneeds to assume the brunt of any losses on

on Friday.Despite the International Monetary

Fund’s stable record - no borrower has everdefaulted on an IMF loan and no countryhas ever lost money lending to the IMF -there are concerns about the IMF’s growingexposure to the euro zone.

That exposure could take a quantum leapif Italy and Spain need bailouts, a level ofassistance that would almost certainly dwarfthe loans already approved for Greece, Ire-land and Portugal in deals engineered withthe European Union.

Emerging markets, which are contem-plating lending more money to the IMF-- which couples monetary assistance withtough conditions that seek to ensure acountry does not default -- have also raisedconcerns in the IMF about the risks to the

-tions told Reuters.

A crucial European Union summit endedon Friday with a historic agreement to drafta new treaty for deeper integration in theeuro zone in an effort to rein in a debt crisisthat started in Greece two years ago and hascontinued to spread.

Worries about the IMF’s risk are alsobrewing among congressional lawmakers.

Four U.S. lawmakers who met with IMFchief Christine Lagarde this week expressedunease over the risk the fund would take onwith a bigger role in Europe.

A request for a big IMF loan for Italy orSpain would put the United States, whichholds veto power over most IMF lendingdecisions, in an uncomfortable spot.

The American public is still stung by theU.S. government’s big bailouts for banksduring the 2 - 9 financial crisis andfears that mounting U.S. debts imperil thenation’s future.

With President Barack Obama facing atough battle for re-election in November, the White House is not keen to appear asEurope’s savior, and the administration’smessage to Europe has consistently beenPut more of your own money on the line.

Indeed, Republican lawmakers are seek-ing to yank a 1 billion loan the UnitedStates approved for the IMF in 2 9, amove that would undercut Washington’s

to IMF loans.“If the United States wants to help Europe

must be a strong, world economic leader, notmerely the lender of last resort, RepublicanSenator Jim DeMint wrote in The Wall StreetJournal on Friday.

“Members of the Obama administrationmust focus all of their efforts on strength-ening the U.S. economy and balancing ourbudget, rather than on continuing to borrowfrom China to pay for Europe’s out-of-control debts, he added.

DeMint said he would seek to force an-other vote to stop U.S. Treasury SecretaryTimothy Geithner from supporting moreEuropean bailouts. The Senate voted 55-in June against a proposal by DeMint torepeal IMF loan authority.

Domenico Lombardi, a former IMF board

Washington, said even if the U.S. Congressrescinded the loan, it would not preventthe IMF from lending to Europe. He saidthe international community has a stakein ensuring the euro zone crisis does notspread further.

The IMF enjoys an understanding amongits members that borrowing nations willalways pay the IMF back ahead of privatecreditors.

However, the scale of borrowing troubledeuro zone countries might need raises thespecter that one of the nation’s could defaulton an IMF loan.

The IMF has about 3 billion available

ReutersVIENNA - China will remain part of

international efforts to help Europe throughits crisis, vice foreign minister Fu Ying saidon Saturday, dismissing the idea that Beijingwas sitting back as the region suffered.

“China will be part of the internationaleffort to help Europe. We’ve done a lot, wehave been so much in it, Europeans knowit, she told reporters on the sidelines ofa conference in Vienna. Asked how Chinawould help, she said

“We want to invest, we are importingmore, we are sending delegations to buy, topurchase, that will help create jobs, that willhelp stimulate the economy.

“China will continue to be part of theeffort because we are interrelated, interde-pendent. We are in it together. We are in oneboat, she said.

As the owner of the world’s largest for-eign exchange reserves, China is one of thefew governments with pockets deep enoughto buy a sizeable portion of European gov-ernment debt and help pull the region fromits economic malaise.

Supporters of this idea say China wouldhelp itself if it assisted the euro zone, be-cause it would allow Beijing to diversify itsreserves from the dollar and foster economicgrowth in China’s biggest export market.

China has been cool to such suggestionsand has not committed publicly to contribut-ing to Europe’s bailout fund, despite beingcourted by the fund’s chief last month.

Fu said in Vienna that idea of Chinagiving “aid to Europe was often misun-derstood.

“When it is translated into Chinese itsounds like development aid and that is notwhat we are talking about, she told a paneldiscussion.

“The kind of thing we want to do is to bepart of the effort to stimulate the economy, she said, adding that China hoped to increaseits imports from Europe next year.

“China has 12 million people livingon one dollar a day so it is not the kind ofcountry rich enough to talk about savingothers. It doesn’t mean that China is tryingto stay away from this global effort...we areall interdependent, she said.

Gaga performed a slightly naughty rendition of the holiday classic Friday night as part of her mini-concert at the radio station’s event at Madison Square Garden. Gaga — sporting tight studded leather pants, matching top and a bare midriff — gyrated on a set that included antlers, Christmas trees and holiday lights as she performed “White Christmas.”

“So I recently added a couple of lyrics to this song because I think it’s too short. It’s like when you really start to enjoy it it stops. It’s like a really bad orgasm. Merry Christmas New York!” she shouted. Later, she made a suggestive pose as she gave a come hither coo to Santa.

But her performance wasn’t all saucy. She was nostalgic and apprecia-

tive as she thanked the radio station for allowing her to be the headliner of this year’s show, which included per-formances from Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, LMFAO, Pitbull, David Guetta, Foster the People, Hot Chelle Rae and more. Gaga said her first concert as a young girl growing up in New York City was the Z100 Jingle Ball.

“I worked so hard and when I was 11 ... my mom got me tickets to Jingle Bell Ball,” she said. Gaga opened the Jingle Ball concert three years ago, she said: “I’ll never forget there were a whole lot of superstars and no one knew who the hell I was. ... Some people thought I was going to be a one-hit wonder.”

The singer, recently nominated for

three Grammys, proved to be otherwise, and sang a few of her best-known songs, including “Telephone,” ‘’Just Dance” and “Edge of Glory.”

She opened her performance by sing-ing between several Christmas trees; later, she performed on a keytar shaped like a Christmas tree, and she ended the night dressed in a hospital gown, re-enacting the theme of her latest video, “Marry the Night.”

A portion of the evening’s proceeds will go to “STOMP Out Bullying,” a program designed to reduce and prevent bullying, a cause close to Gaga’s heart. Earlier this week, she went to the White House to meet with officials about the matter.

“It’s important to keep everybody safe in school,” Gaga told the audience before launching into her inspirational anthem “Born This Way.” She also told her fans that she was happy to be in New York City during the holidays.

SARAJEVO - Victims of Bosnia’s 1992-95 war had most of their anxieties over a film by Hollywood star Angelina Jolie put to rest at a private screening this week. Objections to filming Jolie’s tale of love between a Serb man and a Muslim woman in Bosnia last year forced the Hollywood star to shoot most of the film in nearby Hungary. Only some of the exterior scenes were shot in Bosnia.

But the Thursday night screening of the film in Sarajevo to representatives of victims’ associations elicited positive reactions from some of Jolie’s toughest local critics. “She has made a fantastic film for Bosnia and Herzegovina, I can really say that from the angle of a victim,” Murat Tahirovic, the president of Bosnia’s association of (wartime) detainees, told the Federal Television in Sarajevo.

Tahirovic was among a dozen repre-

sentatives of wartime victims invited to the closed screening of Jolie’s directo-rial debut “In The Land of Blood and Honey”. “Everybody should see this film,” Tahirovic said.

In October 2010, a Bosnian minister cancelled Jolie’s filming permits citing incomplete paperwork, after female victims of the Bosnian war objected to details of the plot, alleging it was about love between a rapist and his victim. The film tells a tale of love between a Serb man and a Muslim woman before the Bosnian war, who later meet in different circumstances - he is an army officer and she is his detainee.

Victims of sexual violence in Bosnia wrote to the United Nations refugee agency, saying Jolie did not deserve her role as a UNHCR Good Will Ambas-sador, and did not know enough about the Bosnian conflict. Jolie first came to Bosnia last year as an UNHCR ambas-sador.

LOS ANGELES - British singer Adele made Billboard history on Friday when she became the first female singer to be named top artist, have the top album, “21,” and score the top single, “Roll-ing in the Deep,” all in one year. The 23-year-old chanteuse was followed in the top artist group by No. 2 Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga in that order, while Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Bruno Mars rounded out the top ten.

“I think one of the things that sets me apart from other artists who have had the same kind of success is that my life isn’t speculated about” by the media, Adele said in an interview with Billboard. Tye Comer, editor of Billboard.com, attributed Adele’s success to her being a “breath of fresh air” in a market saturated with pop artists

cut from a “certain cloth,” like Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.

“Her success is really inspiring because it shows that there is still room in the music industry for an artist to make it with true, raw talent,” Comer told Reuters. “It’s not necessarily always about the outrageous outfits or flashy videos, but an amaz-ing voice coupled with the right song still has the ability to turn the ears of millions of people and keep them interested,” he said.

Adele’s smash hit album “21,” which was described by Billboard’s Julianne Escobedo Shep-herd as a “break-up requiem,” was written in the aftermath of the singer’s failed relationship, and it features underlying themes of love, heartache and moving forward.

“I’m incredibly private but I’m also incredibly honest, and I think that creates a kind of ‘meet in the middle’ respectable ground,” said the singer.

The moon took on a reddish glow, as some indirect sunlight continued to reach it after passing through the Earth’s atmosphere. Since the atmosphere scatters blue light, only red light strikes the moon, giving it a crimson hue. David Sayre, who runs a public relations firm in Hawaii, said it had been cloudy and rainy around his house on Oahu, but the weather cleared just in time for the eclipse.

He awoke, as he usually does, around 3 a.m. and remembered to

step outside the house in time to catch the eclipse about a half hour later. No one else in the neighbor-hood was up. “Sure enough it was turning that orangy-red color,” Sayre, 47, said. “I said, ‘Gosh I better grab a camera.’”

He added, “To be able to see it just right outside our house was really cool.” At the Griffith Obser-vatory in Los Angeles, some 300 people, many clutching coffee cups in the frigid morning air, sat with blankets and chairs on the observa-

tory’s great lawn.“It’s a celestial festival out here,”

Capm Petersen, 39, told the Los An-geles Times as he set up his camera. Perched on a slope north of down-town near the Hollywood sign, the property offers clear views of the sky. Observatory officials alerted the crowd when the eclipse began and spontaneous applause erupted when the celestial event ended.

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the moon goes through the long shadow cast by the Earth and is blocked from the sunlight that illuminates it.

The last total lunar eclipse was on June 15 although that was not visible from the U.S. The next one is on April 15, 2014, and will be seen in the U.S.

JOHANNESBURG - Almost 80,000 years before humans began using chemical sprays to control insect pests, Africans were using mattresses made from bug-repelling plants to ensure a good night’s sleep. The finding, published in the journal Science on Friday, derives from 77,000-year-old plant bedding found in a cave in South Africa’s KwaZulu Natal province. The find is 50,000 years older than any previ-ous prehistoric beds discovered.

The bed’s insect-repelling ca-pabilities suggest ancient humans

were well aware of the chemi-cal and medicinal properties of some plants. “The leaves contained chemicals that repelled mosquitoes and other insects, so we know that they understood medicinal plants,” said Lyn Wadley, an archaeology professor at the University of the Witwatersrand.

The bedding would have helped reduce insect-borne disease, al-though early humans would not have made any connection between mosquitoes and malaria, she told Reuters.

“It was for comfort. They would have known that those leaves kept

away insects and maybe other pests as well,” Wadley said. The bedding consists of thick layers of com-pacted stems and leaves of sedges and rushes collected from the banks of a nearby river.

In the last few years, scientists have made a series of startling dis-coveries in South Africa shedding light on the lives of early humans.

In October, researchers at the Blombos Cave 300 km (200 miles) east of Cape Town discovered a 100,000 year-old painting kit con-sisting of abalone shells, colour pigments and bone spatulas used to work up a paste.

LOS ANGELES — “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” flew away with the game of the year trophy at the Spike Video Game Awards. The dragon-slaying epic also won as best role-playing game, and “Skyrim” developer Bethesda Softworks was selected as the studio of the year at Saturday’s ninth annual Spike Video Game Awards, which honors outstanding achievements within the gaming industry over the past year.

“We poured ourselves into this for the past three years,” said “Skyrim” game director Todd Howard. Valve’s sci-fi puzzler “Portal 2” bounced away with the most awards, winning five trophies for best PC game, multiplayer and downloadable content, as well as best performance by female human for Ellen McLain as GLaDOS and male human for Stephen Merchant as Wheatley.

Other titles winning multiple trophies included Rocksteady’s super-hero sequel “Batman: Arkham City” for best character for the Joker and best action-adventure, adapted and Xbox 360 game; Supergiant Games’ role-playing fable “Bastion” as best downloadable game, song and original score; and the latest entry in Nintendo’s “Zelda” franchise, “The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword,” which was chosen as the best motion and Wii game.

The fantastical 25-year-old “Zelda” role-playing series itself became the first gaming franchise to be inducted into the show’s hall of fame. “Zelda” creator Shigeru Miyamoto from Japan was on hand to accept the honor. “None of this would be possible with-out you,” Miyamoto told the crowd. “We all at Nintendo are humbled by your support.”

“Chuck” star and avid gamer Zachary Levi hosted the ninth annual ceremony at Sony Pic-tures Studios, appearing on stage on stage along-side three-dimensional “augmented reality” ver-sions of characters and weapons from game of the year nominees.

The two-hour extrav-aganza, which featured performances from The Black Keys and Dead-mau5, put more empha-sis on upcoming games than awards though.

“It’s great to be here in Milton Keynes which is where the cars are built and everyone from the factory

works,” said Vettel. “It’s nice to say thank you and to see all the fans from the area. It was good fun;

we did some donuts and enjoyed ourselves out there. “Thanks to all the fans that came today, we wanted to put on a great show, so I hope they enjoyed it. It’s a great way to finish the season.”

Team boss Christian Horner also paid tribute to the supporters for turning out in such numbers. “To run an F1 car through the

middle of Milton Keynes was fan-tastic, so many of our workforce are local and it’s great to see so many fans here,” he said.

“It’s flattering to have so many people turn out to celebrate what we have achieved. Without the fans, there’s no Formula 1 and no Red Bull, so it’s good to give something back and celebrate our

double world championship like this.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to Milton Keynes Coun-cil for what they have done for us. Closing the middle of the city on one of their busiest shopping days is highly appreciated, so a huge thank you to them for all their efforts.”

RENAULT says Kimi Raikkonen did not suffer any serious harm when he crashed in a snow mobile race in Austria today. The Formula 1 returnee was reported to have fallen on an early run in the event and suffered pain from his left wrist, ruling him out of the rest of the weekend.

But the Renault team has issued a message via its Twitter feed underlining that Raikkonen was largely un-scathed. “We just spoke to Kimi,” it read. “There’s noth-ing to worry about, he only has a sore wrist. He might have it checked again on Monday, but that’s all.”

Renault announced last week that it had enticed Raikkonen back to F1 for 2012 after a two-year stint in the World Rally Championship, and has since promoted Romain Grosjean from the third driver role to become his team-mate. The team will run as Lotus from next season.
