Dear friends,Today, it is with emotion, and with passion, that I lay before you Scotland's hope and ambition to organize the Games of the 32nd Olympiad in Edinburgh in 2024.Edinburgh's bid is that of Scotland: a united, enthusiastic Scotland who is rallying nationwide to host the Games. A Scotland determined to place her excellence, her sites, her way of life and her experience in the organization of major sporting events to further the dreams and values of the Olympic spirit.We are eagerly awaiting your choice, your sovereign decision. Scotland is longing to welcome athletes from all over the world, together with the entire Olympic family. We are united behind a collective, ethical and forward-looking project. A project combining innovation with respect for the environment. Scotland, as you know, is deeply committed to the values of the Olympic spirit. The values of peace, sharing, respect, friendship and dialogue among peoples and among cultures. Values also shared by us. We are ready to welcome the Olympic flame, the flame that casts the light of its ideal of peace and tolerance on humanity. Edinburgh is a City of iconic landmarks, world famous festivals and exciting possibilities. From the atmospheric cobbled streets of the Old Town to the beautiful Georgian avenues of the New Town. The games in our city

Situated in the East of Scotland, Edinburgh is one hour from London and 45 minutes from Glasgow. It lies on the Firth of Forth and the North Sea. Its International Airport flies to many parts of the world.

Capacity – 80,000Ceremonies - AthleticsReduced to 20,000 post games to be used as multipurpose arena with athletics track.

Top tier stands will be removed and roof lowered. Will provide an athletics legacy for Scotland.

Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome

Capacity – 4000Track cyclingWill provide a lasting legacy of cycling to the City of Edinburgh. Alongside the sister Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, they will give Scotland permanent world class facilities.

Meadowbank ArenaCapacity – 12,000Basketball – Handball – Volleyball

Post games will be converted into a Sports Centre for the use of the people of Edinburgh.

The Burgh Tennis Centre

Parklands Hockey Park

Capacity – 20,000TennisPost games will become Scotland's main permenent Tennis venue and home to the new Olympic Tennis Club.

Athletes Village

Edinburgh's vision is to have our athletes village in the heart of the Olympic Park. Green, clean and a natural environment for the athletes to relax, feel safe and enjpy their time here. All accommodation will have catering, internet access and clean modern furnishings. After the games the village will become residential accommodation.

Transportation

Getting around Edinburgh is fast and easy. The city has a reliable and punctual bus service, which covers all areas of the city. The citys new tram network connects the airport to the city centre and an extension will connect the Olympic Park.

Visitors will be able to reach the Olympic Park from the City Centre within 15 minutes, with dedicated fast bus lanes. Transport times from Edinburgh to venues in Glasgow are 40 minutes by train with 8 trains per hour running during games time. Our aim is a fast, reliable and green games transport network.
