EDEXCEL BTEC LEVEL 2 FIRST CERTIFICATE IN SPORT
The Edexcel BTEC Level 2 First Certificate in Sport has been designed to provide an engaging
introduction to the world of sport. The qualification builds on learning from Key Stage 3 for
those who may wish to explore a vocational route throughout Key Stage 4.
This is a Level 2 qualification (equivalent to one GCSE). It consists of both core units and
optional units. This includes an external assessment which comprises an online exam worth
25% of the qualification. This will assist learners as they progress either into higher levels of
vocational learning, or to related academic qualifications such as GCEs and GCSEs. Edexcel
sets and marks these assessments.
The assessment approach for the internally assessed units enables learners to receive
feedback on their progress throughout the course as they provide evidence towards
meeting the unit assessment criteria. They are assessed internally and are moderated by
EDEXCEL.
The course is graded Distinction*, Distinction, Merit, Pass, Level 1 and Unclassified.
