Professional Portfolio
Purpose of the Professional Portfolio
To showcase your student teaching work;
Primarily your teaching philosophy and impact study
Format of the PortfolioAn electronic format
using GoogleSites and a CD
Getting Started with
sites.google.com1) Search “googlesites”
3) If you do not have an account, “Sign up for Sites”
2) If you have an account, sign in
Click “Create new site”
Question: I have other GoogleSites; can I
set up another one? Yes, you can have 5
separate GoogleSites
Click“Browse the gallery for more” to find the EDCI550 template

3) Double click option, “Teaching Portfolio”
4) Click “Select”
1) Type “EDCI550” in search field
2) Click “Search”
Your template is now in your list and is highlighted
1) Name your Site “’Your Name’ Portfolio”
Ignore “URL”, “Choose Theme”, and “More Options” for now
3) Click “Create Site”
2) Type Code as Shown
URL = Your Portfolio’s Address
Page you are working on or viewing
Portfolio Pages – Click on a link to go to a page
Instructions for each page. You will delete this text and add your own
“Create page” or “Edit page”

Submit your Portfolio URL to your Supervisor
Note: To add information to any page you MUST be logged into googlesites and you MUST click on Edit page
1) Logged in
2) Edit Page
2) Delete text in text box and add your own by either typing in this text box or copying text from a word processing document, such as Microsoft Word, and pasting it into the text box.
3) After you add text you can format using the format tools
1) Click on “Edit page”.
Note: Do not format your text in your word processor, instead format in Googlesites

2) Click on “Image”
3) Click on “Upload Image”
4) “Browse” on your computer5) After you select, click “OK”
After any change to a page or going to another page you must “Save”
1) Highlight text or object (image) you want to link
2) Click the “Link” button

When finished creating your Site…
Once you are finished creating your GoogleSites, you will next download your work to your computer
desktop so you can save it to a CD
First Step
1) Right click on desktop
3) Select “Folder”
2) Select “New”
Create a folder on your computer desktop to save your Portfolio into
Name Folder
Rename a folder by right clicking on the folder and selecting “rename”
Name a Folder
Type name
Rename
Name your folder something that your University Supervisor will understand and will be able to immediately recognize as yours

Download this special software onto your computer to download your Web portfolio
Click on “Featured Downloads”

In the Computer Lab Select “Open With”

Note: At home you can select “Save File”
Important
1) Fill in Required Fields – “Host”, “Webspace” and googlesites “Username” and “Password”
2) Choose Target Directory –this is the folder that you created earlier
After you select your “Target Directory” or Desktop folder, click “Open”
Web space is the last part of your URL
3) Click “Export”

After it has downloaded, Click “Done”
This software will download all attachments (word documents, images, pdfs) and Web pages from your site
All files within your GoogleSites Portfolio downloaded to your desktop
Writing Files to a CD-RW
Or, saving your Portfolio to a CD, write)-be RW (readmustwhich
1) Insert CD-RW into your computer
2) Select “Open Writable CD Folder”
3) Select “OK”
4) Drag your Portfolio folder on your desktop to the CD window

Folder and contents will move to CD
You are ready to write your files to your CD-RW
Select, “Write these files to CD”
Turn your finished CD into your University Supervisor
Congratulations! You did it.
