HISTORY OF NEWSPAPER

• The history newspaper is an often dramatic chapter of the human experience going back some fine centuries .

• The renaissance Europe handwritten newsletters circulated privately amoung merchants , passing along information about everything from wars & economic conditions for socoal conditions to social customes & ‘human interest features’.

The first printed forerunners of the newspaper appeared inGermany in the late 1400’s in the form of news pamphlets or broadsides.

In the English speaking world , the earliest predecessors of the newspapers were Corantos , small news pamphelts produced only when some event worthy of notice occured .

The successively published title was ‘THE WEEKELY NEWS’of 1622.

It was followed in the 1640’s and 1650’s by a plethora of different titles in the similar newsbook format.

The first true newspaper in English was the ‘London Gacette’ of 1666.

USES OF NEWSPAPER

• Social interaction: Newspapers are a source for social interaction as it gives us something to talk about , which enables us to interact with society.

• Entertainment : Purpose of a newspaper is to entertain . Many newspapers includes horoscopes , crosswords & agony aunts. This allows the reader to interact, is helps in grabbing the reader’s attention.

• EducationEducation /Information : Newspapers share news with the reader & informs them of what is happening around them.
