Economic Transition in Central and Eastern Europe: A Decade of Change CALL FOR PAPERS For a Special issue of: THUNDERBIRD INTERNATIONU BUSINESS REVIEW (TIBR) (Formerly The International Executive) In the nearly 10 years since the Iron Curtain fell and the centrally planned economies of Eastern Europe (CEE) embarked on the path toward a market orientation, some of the adjustments postulated at the outset have come with unexpected speed. Others have lagged. Economic upheaval and dislocations have been rampant, but' many countries have, albeit with different approaches, succeeded in improv- ing their economies and their participation in the global marketplace. This special issue of Thunderbird International Business Review will present a managerially relevant assessment of the changes that have taken place in Central and Eastern Europe, offer a strategic outlook for further developments in the region, and analyze the im- plications for management and research. The perspectives of various business fields are solicited, including but not limited to: marketing, international business, management, finance, accounting, law, and sociology. Perspectives from within and outside the CEE are also wel- come. Papers should not exceed 25 double spaced pages and present orig- inal materials not published elsewhere. The deadline for manuscript submissions is April 1, 1998. Please send three copies of your paper to either of the guest co-editors: Prof. Michael R. Czinkota or Prof. Ilkka A.
