Foreword: British Design | Global Solutions

ECOLED is a British company designing and manufacturing exceptional LED lighting products. We have over 20 years experience specifically with LED technology, which has enabled our specialist team to develop an outstanding range of stunning LED luminaires utilising only the most cutting edge technology.We employ Chip On Board (COB) LED arrays for optimum performance. In addition, many of our products are dimmable either by simple switch or advanced systems, facilitating total lighting control. We work in partnership with lighting & interior designers, engineers, electrical contractors, industrial partners and more recently we have established a UK network of accredited ECOLED stocking dealers.

Greater LifespanA typical incandescent bulb has a lifespan of around 2,000 hoursECOLED lights are expected to have an optimum performance life of over 50,000 hours with little degradation of light output. That is 17 years in an average household (based on 8 hours per day average use), ten times the lifespan of an compact fluorescent and 25 times longer than a filament lamp. ECOLED lamps are solid state making them extremely robust and virtually eliminating maintenance or replacements.

Cool and SafeECOLED lights generate very little heat therefore providing secondary energy and cost reduction benefits such as reducing the workload of air conditioning systems.

Mercury Free and Eco-FriendlyUnlike compact fluorescents that need careful handling on disposal, ECOLED Lights are mercury free, manufactured in recycled materials as much as possible and may then be in turn recycled at the end of their life.

Efficiency – ECOLED vs HalogenMany built environments require lights to be running 24 hours per day in common areas, often using 50W Halogen units that are expensive to run, inefficient in their ratio of power to output and require frequent maintenance and replacement. ECOLEDs typically use 80-90% less energy than a 50W halogen thus even in small installations, the savings and return on investment is obvious.

Decorate with LightLighting is now part of how we decorate and with the versatility of LED we are able to bring colour and varied programming into a project.

Colour TemperatureModern LED luminaires now offer a full colour spectrum as well as the comfort of the familiar ‘Warm White’ glow of the old incandescent bulb.

DimmingMany of our products can be dimmed using a dimmable driver and a suitable dimming controller.

Intensity (Lumens)The lumen is a measure of the power of light as perceived by the human eye. A 100W incandescent light bulb produces roughly 1200 lumens, about 12 lumens per watt.Our LEDs typically produce over 80 lumens per watt thus producing over 6 times the light output for the same amount of power. Efficiencies are improving every year.

Colour RenderingThe Colour Rendering Index (CRI) is used to measure how accurately a lighting source renders the color of objects when compared to sunlight. Sunlight is defined to have a CRI of 100.EcoLEDs have very high CRI values making them the most suitable technology for general lighting today.

This is a unique plaster-in trimless design. The housing ‘pod’ is screwed or attached with spring clips into the ceiling void and then plastered in. The light engine is then inserted and locked in place with a simple twist action.

EcoLED Flexi-Strip

Flexi-Strip is a range of self-adhesive LED light tape allowing the creation of stunning lighting effects. It can be easily attached to most surfaces and provides maintenance-free background lighting in almost any interior or exterior application.

How To Specify ECOLED’s Flexi-StripA Flexi-Strip part code will typically read as GIBVF60WSWW. By dividing up the part code you can specify your requirement as follows:

Flexi-Strip is not IP rated as standard. The IP65 version is sealed from the front only and remains self adhesive whereas the IP68 version is sealed front AND back and is not well suited to self adhesion in which case mounting clips will be provided. If you require the IP rated strip, use the WS or WTE part codes to specify the type.

Power Guide According to the number of LEDs per metre each type has a different power consumption in Watts. To decide on the Power Supply Unit required, simply add up the number of metres on the circuit and multiply that by the Wattage per metre to calculate the total load. Then, specify the Power Supply Unit with an output value greater than that number. So, 60 LEDS per metre in single colour uses 5W per metre. Three metres = 15W therefore, an 18W PSU will be required as the load is too high for the 12W. Below we show the approximate Watts per metre of the different types of Flexi-Strip. Please note all EcoLED Flexi-Strip runs on 12Volts DC unless otherwise stated. 24Volts DC is available to order.

Cutting & ConfiguringFlexi-Strip can be cut and configured to suit many different applications. 30 LEDs per metre can be cut every 100mm, 60 LEDs per metre every 50mm and 120 LEDs per metre every 25mm. Care should be taken by the installer to re-seal and protect the integrity of the joins when cutting and configuring the IP versions.

Please note that ECOLED does not recommend running more than 10M of Flexi-Strip from one length. If your total length required is greater than 10M, we recommend introducing the power at intervals creating smaller parallel circuits as shown on the diagram:

Specifications The profiles are produced in Anodised Aluminium with a choice of diffusers: clear, 50% frosted, fully frosted and 30° or 60° optics lenses for certain profiles. They come in 2m lengths as standard and can be easily cut down to size on site. Accessories are also available: end caps, mounting brackets and spare diffusers.
