Heat Recovery Penthouse Turret The HRPT provides ventilation into spaces all year round. The unit provides 100% fresh air whilst
recovering heat to provide winter heating. The unit also provides passive ventilation for summer
periods. The unit eliminates the need for space heating, make-up air louvres or openable windows,
reducing the overall cost of the ventilation and heating system.
The HRPT comprises of two low energy fans providing a duty of up to 0.32m3/s each and a plate heat
exchanger with an efficiency of 74%. The overall unit is ErP 2018 compliant and has the capacity to
recover heat of up to 8kW. The integrated dampers give control over the flow of air through each
section.
The integral passive section of the unit provides the required summer ventilation with the added
benefit of a forced mechanical ventilation system. This allows the system to provide a complete
purge of the space when required.
Key Features:
Low noise operation
Air volumes of up to 300 l/s can be achieved
Below 35dB noise levels
Ensure IAQ and temperatures remain within D of E guidelines
Easy to use in room controller
Summer boost and night purge
Available in a range of colours and finish

Design The unit is designed to serve spaces with occupancies of up to 32 people. The unit is controlled via a
in room CO2 and temperature sensor to provide the winter and summer ventilation.
The standard unit size is 1500 x 1500 x 700H nominal (1500mm square shaft dimension), of which
half the unit provides the passive ventilation with the remainder half housing the mechanical fans
and the plate heat exchanger. The unit is supplied with a split drop duct and a 1200 x 1200 3-way air
diffuser to be mounted onto the ceiling. The unit can also be integrated with ducted systems.

Operation GDL's intelivent HRP units are a mix mode ventilation product. they operate in the
following modes:
Heat recovery mode: Winter
The plate heat exchanger and 2 low energy fans provide tempered fresh air by recovering the heat
from the exhaust air already within the space.
Passive mode: Summer
In summer, once the peak occupied temperature is reached within the classroom, the units operate
in 'passive mode'. No fans will run but by opening the summer passive damper, air circulates through
the unit, by the natural stack/buoyancy effect.
Boost mode:
If temperatures within the room do not reduce after the passive mode has been in operation for a
short period, the summer/extract fan will start to operate to boost the ventilation rate through the
space.
H E A T R E C O V E R Y S Y S T E M S
Night purge - passive ventilation during unoccupied hours.
When external temperatures are low, the space can be ventilated automatically to refresh and cool
the space during unoccupied night time periods. This can be achieved by running the units in the
'passive mode', providing free cooling without compromising the building's security.
Smart Control The smart room controller is an application configurable wall mounted controller with the ability to
integrate into network devices that support BACnet MSTP or Wireless ZigBee mesh network
technology.
• Wireless not available for this model
Customisable Touch Screen
The touch screen of the room controller offers a customizable user experience with selection of
languages, temperature scales, buttons, and screen colours, it also supports the upload of an image
or logo that becomes the default standby screen of the device. Custom messages can also be
displayed on-screen using BACnet® objects when the room controller is integrated via a BACnet
MS/TP system.
Optional Passive Infrared (PIR)
All models can be equipped with a discrete optional passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor. With the
embedded sensor, the room controller uses advanced occupancy routines to generate automatic
energy savings during occupied and unoccupied periods without sacrificing occupant comfort.
