It’s important for you to know that I

was not from the pure science

stream or the class which was

deemed as smart. Having failed my

Maths and Science before, if I can

go this far, anyone could do the

same! All you need to do is dream

big :)

Vik was academically from the lower end

of her batch in Regent, having failed

maths and science in sec 2, and she was

placed in a combined science stream.

She worked hard as much as she could to

get better at all subjects and as a resultshe did get 4 As and 2 Bs during O levels.

She loves science and went on to do a

Diploma in Biomedical Science at SP and

graduated with a GPA of 3.5. She did her

bachelors and postgraduate education at

UNSW, Sydney.

Psychology undergraduate studies at

SIM (University of Buffalo, New York),

graduated as a valedictorian and

scholar, before working for 2 years

doing medical research in Tan Tock

Seng Hospital and Singapore General

Hospital. Last year, he applied and got

accepted to do his PhD studies in

Psychiatry at the University of

Cambridge, UK ,under the Bill Gates

scholarship. He would like toemphasize that if you go the SIM

route, you need to be among the top

to make it, to get the research

opportunities necessary for

postgraduate dreams.

Never underestimate the power of a

dream! And always be humble and stay

rooted to what you firmly believe in. Be

nice to the ones you'll meet on the way

up because they'll be there on your waydown. Never let anyone tell you that

you are not good enough. He is singer with 2 bands, JuzB and

Soulmisters. After Juz graduated from Regent

in 2004, he went on to obtain a Higher Nitec in

Business Admin from ITE College West, after

which he continued to Temasek Polytechnic to

pursue a Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism

Mgmt. Throughout his whole tertiary

education and NS, he never stopped

performing on stage. He took up numerous

singing and acting gigs to supplement my

income whilst studying. This year, Juz was

picked to represent Singapore in the World

Championships of Performing Arts inHollywood California. He came back with a

total of 8 medals for his participation in singing

and acting. His group, Soulmisters managed to

get a spot in the Finals of the competition in

which they competed with the best of the best

in the entertainment industry globally.

Kenneth Tan

If I danced, at least I could say I died

with no regrets. I am happy just to be

alive, to stay out of hospital anddance for one more day.

Kenneth was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia at

the age of 20, which is a rare, potentially fatal

disease where his bone marrow does not make

enough blood cells. He has had to have weekly

blood transfu- sions and a bone marrowtransplant. He even deferred his studies twice

because of his health.

But throughout his ordeal, Mr Tan simply kept

dancing. He just wanted to do what he was

interested and passionate in.” His love affair with

dancing actually began in Regent when he was in

the dance troupe. People told him dancing

wouldn’t bring him much money in the future,

but he went ahead and got a Diploma in Dance

at NAFA, in addition to his Diploma in Marine

Engineering from SP. Now a third-year student

majoring in choreography, he hopes to graduate

next year and wants to dance, teach and

choreograph.

I never knew I could be one of

the Singapore girls until I tried

out for it.

Loretta sees passion and dream

differently. Passion is something

she enjoyed doing without any

much returns. Dreams is

something she goes forward toachieve at any cost. Before she

became a flight attendant with

SIA, Loretta was a nurse. Her

passion for nursing will always

be around. But she wanted tofulfill her dream to travel and

live with no regrets. So she went

to try out for SIA interview, and

she got it!



My job as an insurance agent is notrecognized as a prestigious job in

the society. But I never cared and

will not be bothered. As I know what

I am doing it for and I am doing it

Jasmine started to explore the workforce

since she was 19 years old as she felt that it

takes more than a cert to survive in this

society. She did a whole range of jobs from

banking to accounting to even cashiering.She was even a clinic assistant once.

She did whatever jobs she could just to gain

the experience. The challenging thing about

going into the workforce was not about how

rich you can be or how successful you can be.

It was about loving yourself and not hating

yourself because of the changes you had todeal with. You decide your pace. Y

ou decide your goal. You decide your journey.

Be confident and know yourself well.

When you do what u are best at,

you are already heading to glory.
