Disability and digital skills

• Digital literacy is essential for education, employment, inclusion

• People with disabilities face additional barriers

• Personalised training and support is a start

DigiPlace4all approach to peer support

• A peer is ‘someone like me’

• Peers are equal in ability, standing, rank and value

• Not ‘peer mentoring’ as it suggests hierarchy

• DigiPlace4all peer supporters are untrained, unaccredited and informal

• Facilitates peer support among educators and employers

Peer support requirements – from study

• Manage expectations, prevent dependencies

• Help both parties agree aims, methods and boundaries

• Ensure privacy and protection

• Postings are anonymous, relationships private

• But there are rules and guidance and reporting is encouraged
