216.240.5405As the New Year approaches, the theaterseason in Cleveland starts to get back tothe normal type of everyday theater, movingaway from the holiday shows that were onthe schedule in December. If you did not getout to see a show during the Decembertheater period because of the crowds that

were on their way to do some shopping, themonth of January is the time to get out to aproduction as many of the theatre compa-nies are getting ready to debut new shows.Here is a list of some of the shows that willbe on stage during January in the GreaterCleveland and Akron areas.

The Carousel Dinner Theater will bring inthe New Year by finishing off their show of

All Shook Up, the musical that featuresmany of the songs made famous by ElvisPresley. The show will finish its run onJanuary 3rd, 2009.

The Carousel Dinner Theater will then starttheir next show called Life Could Be ADream after that. This show features a cast

of four singers who sing many hits of theDoo Wop era. Life Could Be A Dream runsfrom January 7th until February 28th.

Another show that will finish its run at thebeginning of January is the Beck Centersproduction of Peter Pan. Take advantage ofthe last few days that the show will bestaged and go see a live version of thisclassic story about the boy who wouldntgrow up. Peter Pan runs until January 4th,2009.

One of the shows that will be making itsdebut in January is RENT. The Broadwaysmash comes to Cleveland for a limited run.The production will feature two of the origi-nal actors that helped make the musical

into the hit that it has become. The twoactors that will be returning to the castare Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp.RENT runs from January 6th untilJanuary 11th, 2009.

Another show that will start its run short-ly after the beginning of the year is

Around The World In 80 Days. TheCleveland Play House will be presentingtheir version of the Jules Verne storyabout a man who makes a bet to circlethe globe in only 80 days. The productionruns from January 9th until February 1st,2009.

Playhouse Square will be presenting thestory of Frost/Nixon from January 13thuntil January 25th, 2009. As the movieversion of the story has recently beenreleased into movie theaters, what bettertime to check out a live version of thestory. The live version of the story willfeature veteran stage actor Stacy Keachas Richard Nixon.

Playhouse Square will also be presentinga show that will bring a couple of chil-drens stories to life. Goodnight Moonand The Runaway Bunny will have thechildren smiling, as this show takesthese stories and brings them to thestage.
