the most of their strengths wherever the focus is on high air flow at
very low pressure, as in air-cooled heat exchangers, dry coolers,
cooling towers and condensers. Typical areas where air coolers are
used are mixed use or urban areas, for example to cool data centers
in banks. These are areas where extremely strict rules about noise
emission apply, so noise prevention plays a crucial role.

Adjusting fan speed to operating requirements has two
important benefits. First, power consumption varies with
the cube of the change in speed. In numbers, that means
1/2 speed = 1/8 power or 1/2 air flow = 1/8 operating
costs. This relation is shown by the blue curve.
Second, noise emission decreases at a greater rate than
the decrease in speed (of air flow): 1/2 speed = -15 dB!
In a device with two fans, switching off one fan to reduce
the air flow by half would only reduce the noise level by
3 dB. The gray curve shows how the noise level varies
with the air flow.

Not only does combining the motor and the electronics in a single unit save space, it also simplifies installation. The perfectly adjusted system

Data you can count on
Fan power measurements are carried out on state-of-the-art
chamber test rigs. The entire fan unit, consisting of motor,
control electronics and impeller, is measured in various load
states. This ensures that we obtain reliable data, and that you
can count on these values being reached when selecting a fan.
So there is no chance of any nasty surprises when starting up
the fans.
The measured data forms the basis for our design program,
which is available on request. This software can be used to
calculate the expected operating costs and to perform lifecycle
cost analyses.
