What is SASE Professional society for Asian heritage engineers
& engineering students
National org. founded in Nov. 2007
17 student chapters across U.S. (UIUC is 15th)
3 core missions: professional development, diversity, community service
40+ members
Target membership: all engineering majors & LAS science majors
What We Do
Prepare Asian heritage scientists & engineers for success in the global business world
Network students with industry contacts and professors
Celebrate diversity on campuses and in the workplace
Provide opportunities for members to make contributions to their local communities
Become the ultimate resource on campus for members
Our Current Plan
1st year: Establish SASE on U of I campus
Professional development series
3 seminars/workshops per semester
Topics on resumes, interviewing, winning first impressions, etc.
Help members secure an internship/co-op Annual main event: Etiquette dinner (spring 2011)
Regular volunteering & social events
Collaborate with other Asian student orgs. on unique cultural events for our members
Why Join EC
Reach out to students in College of Engineering
Network with other engineering organizations
Get our organization involved in EC activities
