ebooks: strategy (not) required
DESCRIPTION
Slides from my portion of the Ebooks: Strategy (Not) Required presentation from the 2011 Library Journal Digital Shift virtual conference.TRANSCRIPT
"The e-book ecosystem of information producers, intermediaries, and users
is rapidly evolving, and provides both great opportunity and challenge for all
parties. Libraries reside at the epicenter of this revolution because the rise of e-
books radically affects a core function of libraries -- the acquisition and lending of
books."-- from the
E-book Lending and America’s Libraries draft statement, ALA, September 2011

both Vermont and Oregon provide access to their digital collections through OverDrive via consortia
the work done on partnerships and collaboration should extend beyond libraries
the complexity of this issue needs a coordination of messages
challenges in consortium projects
as our collections and services face stress, we often face challenges to maintaining our founding principles
but I have no staff and no money...
provide as many opportunities as possible for staff to connect and participate
