Thematic study: Cultural Heritage and Creative Resources in the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme (ERICarts – March 2014)
Main findings: The CENTRAL EUROPE programme includes an important share of culture-related projects. Projects can be assigned to 7 thematic clusters following their main focus:
– Valorisation and promotion of cultural tourism
– Improvement of cultural heritage management
– Preservation and protection of cultural heritage
– Valorisation of intangible cultural heritage, such as traditions
– Valorisation of culture through the development of innovative governance strategies
– Revitalisation of brownfields and derelict buildings through culture
– Improvement of the creative industries environment

Continuation main findings (ERICarts – March 2014):
Territorial cooperation programmes like CENTRAL EUROPE provide a clear "added value" if compared with other instruments. Main advantages are,More attention is given to specific conditions and development needs of cities and regions There is a clear focus on transnational/-regional cooperation Territorial programmes seem to show a greater flexibility as regards the thematic focus of projects (e.g. with regard to economic potentials and cross-sector synergies)The average volume of project budgets is comparatively large, which enables also meaningful pilot investments
