SYMPTOMS
TREATMENT
There are two main types; psychopharmacological and psychosocial.
ANOREXIA NERVOSA Is an eating
disorder characterized by immoderate food restriction and irrational fear of gaining weight, as well as a distorted body self-perception
SYMPTOMS Symptoms for a
typical patient include:
Refusal to maintain a normal body mass index for their age
Amenorrhea, the absence of three consecutive menstrual cycles
TREATMENT
Treatment for anorexia nervosa tries to address three main areas.
Restoring the person to a healthy weight;
Treating the psychological disorders related to the illness;
Reducing or eliminating behaviors or thoughts that originally led to the disordered eating.
"As many as 6 percent of people with the disorder die from causes related to it."
DIET Diet is the most
essential factor to work on in patients with anorexia nervosa, and must be tailored to each patient's needs.
