Easy Street at Regency Manor includes:

The only facility of its kind in Central Ohio, Easy Street is an innovative therapy area that helps patients experience physical and cognitive challenges of the real world. Easy Street is a simulation of typical community settings and provides a therapeutic environment where patients relearn skills needed for daily living. Participants regain confidence in a safe, secure, and highly motivational setting.

Automobile - Using a real vehicle, patients will learn safe car transfers. They practice adjusting to moving around a confined space and stationary objects (dashboard, steering wheel, foot pedals). Patients also learn safe strategies for transferring into a vehicle. A parking meter and a gas pump are included for simulating real life tasks.

Theater - A ticket counter simulating different counter heights and cognitive retraining is served by this area.

Restaurant - The patient can practice skills he or she will need in their daily lives. Transferring, reading a menu, and ordering a meal are some of the challenges this area provides.

Bus Schedules - An authentic bus schedule kiosk is used to assist in retraining patients on how to manage bus transportation.

ATM Machine, Mailbox and News Stand - In today’s world, relearning how to obtain cash from an ATM machine, mail letters, or buy a newspaper are necessary life skills.

Mobility Tracks - Floor surfaces such as carpet, tile and concrete provide walking and wheelchair practice. There are uneven surfaces and textures to simulate the real world.

Market & Pharmacy - A fully equipped grocery and produce area is stocked with realistic fruits and vegetables, a hanging produce scale, an open freezer case with weighted packages, and a stocked shelf area. The checkout counter has a cash register, bagging area, and check-writing platform. A shopping cart is available as well. The pharmacy area is located in the market and helps patients identify and order medications.

Fitness Gym - Strengthening and conditioning are the focus in the gym.

Easy Street allows patients to test their strength, balance and coordination in a safe and supervised environment. It also enables family members to learn about their loved one’s special needs before discharge to home. Graduates from Easy Street return to the community better prepared and confident to meet the real world challenges they will face.
