Easy Knit Booties Adapted from a free Bundles of Love pattern available on Ravelry. We send our booties to medical clinics in rural areas of Guatemala through a partnership with the University of Colorado Medical Center. The booties are part of a new Child Development program that supports new mothers and their infants. NOTE: Want both booties in the pair to look the same? Start with two small balls of yarn, cast on both booties, and continue working them at the same time. The size of the booties depends on the yarn weight and needle size used. If you have trouble casting off in ribbing, just use a crochet hook. We have been asked to make booties with bottoms that are 3” minimum. Select yarn (Baby, Sport, or Worsted weight) and needles that will produce booties with the requested 3” dimension. Thank you! Cast on 28 sts. Knit 10 rows. Row 11: K12, K2 tog, K2 tog, K12. Row 12: Knit across Row 13: K11, K2 tog, K2 tog, K11. Row 14: Knit across. Row 15: K10, K2 tog, K2 tog, K10. Row 16: Knit across. You should have 22 sts. Rib these sts for 12 rows,K1,P1 or K2,P2. Cast off in ribbing. Fold finished bootie in half and sew the center back seam and sole closed. Trim ends. Add an intention or prayer for the mother and baby who will receive much-needed hope from your booties.
