Eastern Bluebird banded in Warner Park is recaptured in Wisconsin!
• On 8 July 2010, Diana McLusky banded 5 bluebird nestlings in nest
box #29-2 on the Percy Warner Golf Course in Nashville, Tennessee.
One of those nestlings was #2251-20687.
• On 2 May 2016, Ann Wick captured this same bird as an adult female
sitting on 6 eggs in one of her bluebird boxes in Black Earth, Wisconsin!
Ann monitors a bluebird trail with 150 boxes.
• This Eastern Bluebird is now 6 years old and traveled approximately
600 miles. The mysteries of birds and their movements continue to
amaze the people who observe and study them.
The Warner Park Bluebird Nest Box Program was
started by Amelia Laskey in 1936 and is one of the
oldest continuously run projects in the US. Over 100
nestlings are banded each year in the 50 box trail. A
team of volunteers check boxes weekly and the pro
gram is coordinated by Diana McLusky (far right).
