Easter is the greatest spring festival.

Some Easter traditions are similar to those in other Christian countries. But there are some different folk

customs and Easter crafts in Lithuania.

Easter rituals start on Palm Sunday.

Lithuanians make Easter palms from branches of different plants.

Typical Lithuanian palms include sprigs of juniper and willows..

Other Lithuanian palms are true works of art.

Lithuanians used palms to “beat” others for good luck. Hitting one with the palm they say: “I don’t hit you, the palm

hits you”.

Easter eggs are the most important symbol of Easter in Lithuania.

Easter eggs can be found in every home. It was so special

to paint eggs together with all family members.

Easter eggs can be decorated using wax or by scratching.

Both these ways of decorating are difficult enough. It is possible to colour eggs using onion peel and other plants.

Easter Granny brings Easter eggs to children. They usually find two eggs in such places as baskets or even in beds.

There are some nice Easter games in Lithuania.

The simplest one is an egg-breaking game. Lithuanians play it every year at Easter breakfast table. Two players face off, each holding an Easter egg and hit each other's egg. The one, whose egg remains

intact, is the winner.

Another funny Easter game is egg-rolling. Players roll their eggs and the purpose is to reach the other’s egg and tap it.

If your egg hits another egg, you can take it.
